We have been checking on Konami and Platinum Games' Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance rather regularly since its first announcement. As of late, we continue to witness some manic sword-wielding action sequences that have since become signature of the spin-off title of the mega-popular Metal Gear Solid series by Hideo Kojima. The most recent trailer at Germany's Gamescom once again stunned us with an awesome display of crazy-assed swordplay sequence. At this year's Tokyo Game Show, fans were treated to yet another round of awesomeness but this time, we get to have a better grasp of the story arc driving the actions.

With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the awesome trailer in both English and Japanese voice-over.

The original trailer in Japanese.

Courtesy of Kotaku, we have a better glimpse at the awesomely stylish villains (with a theme) we have come to expect in a Metal Gear game.

Sundowner
The unofficial leader of Desperado Enforcement. Sundowner (named after the hot winds in California) uses a special custom cyborg body and is feared as one of the "Winds of Destruction." Sundowner uses two high frequency machetes called "Blood Rust."

Mistral
A female cyborg of Desperado Enforcement. Like Sundowner, Mistral (named after the dry northern winds that blow from the Alps to the Mediterranean) is known as one of the "Winds of Destruction." Mistral uses weapons called "Etrangers" in various ways as whips or rods.

A member of Desperado Enforcement and the third of the "Winds of Destruction." Monsoon (named after the torrential winds that bring the rainy season in southeast Asia) uses magnetic fields to control his Sai weapons, called "Dystopia," and can separate parts of his own body to manipulate them from a distance.

And here's an awesome wallpaper from the title.

A recap on the official synopsis of the title:

METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE takes the renowned METAL GEAR franchise into exciting new territory by focusing on delivering an all-new action experience unlike anything that has come before.. Combining world-class development teams at Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames, MGR REVENGEANCE brings two of the world's most respected teams together with a common goal of providing players with a fresh synergetic experience that combines the best elements of pure action and epic storytelling, all within the expansive MG universe. The game introduces Raiden as the central character; a child soldier transformed into a half-man, half-machine cyborg ninja, equipped with a high-frequency katana blade and a soul fueled by revenge. In the near future, cyborg technology has become commonplace throughout society. Three years have passed since the collapse of the Patriots system that had been secretly controlling the global power balance from the shadows. However, peace remains elusive. The dissemination of cybernetic technology has triggered instability and conflict as those who control the trade gain increasing power. Furthermore, large 'Private Military Companies', or PMC's, that had been supported and controlled by the Patriots have collapsed, spawning countless rogue entities with origins to larger criminal organizations. These renegade PMCs employing cyborg technology have become increasingly more disruptive shifting policy and power at will. As a member of the peace-keeping PMC 'Maverick Security', Raiden lives by the mantra of protecting and saving lives. But as the world plunges further into asymmetric warfare, the only path that leads him forward is rooted in resolving his past, and carving through anything that stands in his way.
