RoboCop: First Look at New Armor

RoboCop. Busted.

Meet the Future of Law Enforcement with these leaked set images revealing the new armor of the rebooted RoboCop.

We have earlier took an all-too-brief first look at Brazilian film-maker José Padilha's take on the 1987 sci-fi classic, RoboCop, with the unveiling of the official synopsis as well as some viral campaign promotional art from the film. While the vibes out there on reviews posted on the script are pretty much on the discouraging end, we remain optimistic given the amount of talents involved in the remake that nobody ask for. We still consider Brazilian film-maker José Padilha is an inspired choice given his grim-and-gritty work in The Elite Squad film series. And now with Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Brauchel, Jackie Earle Haley, and Samuel L. Jackson filling up the rest of the cast with Joel Kinnaman taking on the eponymous role of Alex Murphy, AKA RoboCop, this could still work with a stroke of luck.

Along came this opinion-splitting piece of leaked set images with the new RoboCop in action (kinda since walking is an action). Responses all over the net are mainly that the new armor is too similar to the Batman costume in Christopher Nolan's recently completed Dark Knight trilogy or the super suits (whatever they called them in the crappy film) in the live-action adaptation of "G.I. Joes." We opine that this is simply too early for any unfounded speculations.

Now, with no further ado, here are your first glimpses at the new and (hopefully) improved Future of Law Enforcement, courtesy of Coming Soon.

Courtesy of JustJared, here are more images from film with actor Jole Kinnaman concealing the costume in a robe as well as his co-star Abbie Cornish on set with some futuristic auto-mobiles.

Next, we take a look at the first banner of the remake that was first shown at the 2012 License Expo, courtesy of Cine1.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Director José Padilha (Elite Squad) reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) as the title character, Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) as media mogul Pat Novak. RoboCop is being produced by Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, with Eric Carraro as Executive Producer. The film is currently in pre-production and slated for a summer 2013 release.

Starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Brauchel, Jackie Earle Haley, and Samuel L. Jackson, RoboCopis scheduled to open on August 9, 2013.
