Carrie: First Look - Undead Monday This Halloween...

This Halloween... "If you have got a taste for horror, take Carrie to the Prom." Have your First Look at the upcoming third film adaptation of Stephen King's Carrie with Chloë Grace Moretz as the eponymous character.

We have witnessed the unveiling of quite a number of rebooted Hollywood franchises in the past few month. From RoboCop, Evil Dead, to Carrie, they all share a similar trait: They are remakes nobody asked for. But does that fact make them any worse for wear?

With director Kimberly Peirce's film adaptation of one of Stephen King's most adapted novel, Carrie, we have Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore filling in the respective role of Carrie and Margaret White. While I am hard-pressed to imagine Chloë Grace Moretz surpassing Sissy Spacek's critically acclaimed performance that won her a nod from the Academy, we are expecting a stronger sense of sentimentality appropriate of the subject matter of bullying given Peirce's history with her earlier film, Boys Don't Cry,

Earlier on this month at the New York Comic-Con, the first trailer of director Kimberly Peirce's film adaptation of one of Stephen King's most adapted novel, Carrie, premièred to generally positive reception. While the trailer was relatively brief, it gave fans a good look at how the city is left in ruins as an aftermath of the full onslaught of Carrie. What is significant here would be the fact that the film will be taking a depart from  Brian De Palma's landmark adaptation back in 1976. It is immediately apparent that the new take will be a closer adaptation of King's original novel with the city also in peril as opposed to just the High School in the critically acclaimed 1976 classic. Apart from that, we also overheard Julianne Moore crooning some of the creepy hymns that her character, Margaret White, sang to a younger Carrie in the novel.

With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the trailer.

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, here are some official images featuring the classic money shot of Carrie covered in blood as well as Julianne Moore in the role of the insane religious fanatic mother of Carrie.

Here's the first poster for the film featuring Moretz  in yet another bloody close-up shot.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Carrie is directed by Kimberly Peirce with a screenplay by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

Carrie is currently scheduled to be released on March 15, 2013.
