Evil Dead: First Look - Zombie of the Week This Halloween...

Posted by Grey Friday, October 26, 2012

This Halloween... Quench your thirst for some good old fashioned bloody gore-filled horror with the First Trailer of Evil Dead, the remake of a classic nobody asked that is actually winning the argument.

Evil. Dead. Two words we like very, very much here at The Daily Zombies. And there is without a shadow of a doubt that we regard Evil Dead, Sam Raimi's 1981 horror film (incidentally a low-budget horror film-turned-one of the most notorious "video nasty" of the 80s-turned-seminal horror epic that inspired a generation today), highly. After all, we are the generation informed of the "cabin in the woods" genre and we all know how much the genre evolved today thanks to Drew Goddard and Josh Whedon's Cabin in the Woods.

Which all the more explain our loath for the remake. After all, nobody is really asking for a remake so much than a sequel to 1992's Army of Darkness with not a care in the world on how Bruce Campbell has aged into today. Nevertheless, since its announcement last year with both Raimi and Campbell taking on the roles of executive producers of the remake, we have been feeling pretty positive vibe for the film with the participation of Academy Award-winning writer Diablo Cody revising the script, the bold engagement of independent Uruguayan film-maker Fede Álvarez, and the notable change in employing a new female protagonist as opposed to introducing a new Ash to the world.

As the New York Comic-Con, the first footage were shown and instantly declared the film the winner of the show. And now, just in time for All Hallow's Eve, Sony Pictures has released the first trailer of the film. A word of caution: This is not for the squeamish. With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the all-out violent, impressively disturbing First Look at Evil Dead.

And here's a teaser trailer for the full trailer above with some noteworthy soundbytes from Bruce Campbell himself during the NYCC unveiling.

Here's the first image from the film released during the recently ended New York Comic-Con featuring Jane Levy, the new series protagonist turned undead?

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

Evil Dead is currently scheduled to be released on April 12, 2013.
