Mockingbird Lane: First Look - Undead Monday

Posted by Grey Monday, October 22, 2012

This Undead Monday, have your First Look at the unfortunately potential last look of Mockingbird Lane, the remake of 1960s classic sitcom The Munsters.

No matter if you are a fan of NBC's Grimm, do mark your calendar for the series's Halloween-themed episode this Friday (October 26) if you are a fan of either the 1960s classic sitcom The Munsters or Bryan Fuller, the unfortunate yet extremely talented creator of critically acclaimed TV series like Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies. The pilot of Mockingbird Lane, a reboot developed for NBC by Fuller with Bryan Singer, the director of The Usual Suspects as well as the first two X-Men films, taking the director chair.

An incredible pair of talents for a classic sitcom reboot? We agreed but apparently the execs at NBC are none too pleased enough to pick up the full series. But the good news would be that NBC will be airing the pilot as a special lead-in to the aforementioned episode of Grimm with an option of a full series order should it do well enough in the rating game.

Featuring Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as Lily Munster, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa (Sam Dracula), Charity Wakefield as Marilyn Munster, and Mason Cook as Eddie Munster, Mockingbird Lane was set up as a one-hour drama with an updated sense of humour and edge.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer, followed by official images from the series.

  1. Serra Said,

From what I’ve seen in the clips for this Halloween special it’s pretty interesting. It definitely is a brand new take on The Munsters show my mom used to watch on reruns on TVLand. Perhaps making the show more dark and serious is intended for today’s TV to shy away from the silly antics of the original Munster show. It’s hard to believe that this has been in production for two years and has cost NBC two million dollars. Even though it’s one night only I’ve got my Hopper timer set to record the show. With all of the other Halloween stuff I’ve got recording it will be nice to have it at my fingertips. The pictures here on your website look gorgeous and it will just look fantastic on screen. My DISH co-worker is really excited about Portia DeRossi and she really has a good role in the show. I loved the scene with the spiders spinning Lily’s dress and I hate spiders! The CGI for this particular scene with grandpa as a pile of rats was outstanding.
