The Host 2: First Look

Posted by Grey Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Get ready for more monstrous rampage as we bring you the first glimpse at The Host 2, the sequel to the highest-grossing South Korean film of all time.

In 2006, The Host, South Korean film-maker Bong Joon-Ho's sci-fi monster film went on to become the highest-grossing South Korean film of all time and found its way to numerous notable film critics' list of top films of the year. An exceptional film that effortlessly integrated the otherwise campy genre of easily the Sci-Fi Channel monster of the week TV movie with sharp political commentary, signature South Korean quirkiness of a dysfunctional family, and the human spirit, the film has considerably catapulted Bong's career with the South Korean film-maker now working on the post-production of his first Hollywood feature film, Snow Piercer, the film adaptation of Jean-Marc Rochette and Jacques Lob's graphic novel Le Transperceneige.

In the wake of the astounding success of the 2006 film, a follow-up was expectedly announced with commercial director Park Myeong-chan replacing Bong as the director. Can't help but feeling sceptical over yet another sequel nobody asked for? We felt the same here but now, thanks to Twitch, you can make your own call with the first footage of the film.
