Have a heart... for director Jonathan Levine's adaptation of Isaac Marion's Warm Bodies with the release of the charming first trailer of the upcoming quirky zombie romance.
The one-two punch of Hollywood's promotion machine of their upcoming zombie films continues. Just last week, we witnessed the solemn and gritty vision of a full-fledged zombie apocalypse with the first trailer of World War Z, German-Swiss film-maker Marc Forster and actor Brad Pitt's live action adaptation of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. This week, the undead had one hell of a change of pace with the unveiling of the first trailer of Warm Bodies, director Jonathan Levine's adaptation of the début novel of the same name by author Isaac Marion.
And boy were we... charmed. Indeed, we here at The Daily Zombies now stand corrected and acknowledged that there are indeed yet hope for the run-of-the-mill romantic comedies... now that a healthy dose of undead is injected to, for lack of a better world, revitalize the accursed genre. Jokes aside, we are more than pleased with our first look at Warm Bodies and are delighted that it appeared to be charming and funny than what we were expecting. While World War Z might be the zombie film with a brain, Warm Bodies might just just be the one with a heart. And 2013 gonna be a tentpole year for zombie films.
Without further ado, hit the jump to check our the first trailer of Warm Bodies.
And here are some promotional images comprising some of the scenes from the trailer recently released by the film's Facebook page.
To add up to the film's promotional effort, Summit Entertainment has released yet another new poster for the film. And it is a further improvement over the previous one (embedded below as well) while circling around the same theme and pun.
Here's the official synopsis of the film:
A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.
Warm Bodies is currently scheduled to release on February 1, 2013.
