How does one pull a fast one over a bloody Spaghetti Western film featuring a black protagonist? You make a bloody Spaghetti Western film featuring a black protagonist. With Zombie. We take a First Look at Gallowwalkers, the supernatural horror western film.
In a clear homage to the Spaghetti Western films, auteur film-maker Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained was released to near-universal acclaim and was even in the run for the Best Picture Award at the 85th Oscars. Set in the Antebellum Era, the film tells the bloody vendetta of a freed slave-turned-bounty hunter on a quest to rescue his wife. So, in summary, a bloody Spaghetti Western film featuring a black protagonist. And now, in an apparent case of one-upmanship, we might just have a winner now that the perfect formula to top Django Unchained is here: A bloody Spaghetti Western film featuring a black protagonist. With zombies. Hordes and hordes of them.
Wesley Snipes is Aman, the son of a gun, no I mean nun who broke her covenant with God, and thus bringing forth a curse on his son. And what a ridiculous excuse for a plot device the curse is: All that dies by his hands will return as members of the undead to pursue the poor sod for revenge. Does that mean all the cursed man has to do is simply stop killing anyone?
All jokes aside, the production of Gallowwalkers, a film described as "supernatural horror western" featuring Wesley Snipes and Diamond Dallas Page (yes, the former pro-wrestler who is now a Yoga instructor), has been unfortunately strenuous. First announced back in 2005 as The Wretched, veteran Hong Kong action actor Chow Yun-fat was originally circling around the role of the main protagonist of the film. When filming commenced in 2006, the production in Namibia coupled with numerous problems (notably, Snipes' tax conviction) further delayed the release of the film. Until the acquisition of the film by Wrecking Hill Entertainment, it finally became a reality for both the film and Snipes to be released this year.
With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the blood-soaked trailer with some nifty beheading.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:
A mysterious gunman, Aman (Snipes), is the son of a nun who breaks her covenant with God to ensure his survival. This act brings a curse upon Aman – all those that die by his gun will return. Soon, he is hunted by a gang of his undead former victims, led by the vicious Kansa. Aman enlists Fabulos, a new young warrior, to fight by his side.
We have no idea when exactly this film will be released theatrically or if it will be direct-to-video so stay tuned.
