Sin City: A Dame to Kill For - First Look

Posted by The Daily Zombies Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Courtesy of Robert Rodriguez, here's our First Look at Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, the much-anticipated sequel to Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez' 2005 neo-noir crime thriller film, Sin City.

It has certainly been awhile since we last mentioned Sin City: A Dame to Kill For despite our passion for both the original source material, the critically acclaimed comic book series created by Frank Miller, as well as the 2005 live-action adaptation by both Miller and Robert Rodriguez that still stands today as one of the best adaptation of a graphic novel. With that say, our silence over the development of the film are perfectly justified given how long we have waited for the sequel despite Rodriguez's continued assurance that the sequel is on the way. Until now.

A series of finalized casting news have been passing around and now we finally can have a good grasp at how the film would be like. First up, a couple of casting changes for characters that were in the first film. Due to the tragic demise of Michael Clarke Duncan, Dennis Haysbert will be taking over the role of Manute. Meanwhile, with Devon Aoki unable to reprise her role as Miho due to her second pregnancy, Jamie Chung would be taking over the role in the sequel. Jeremy Piven replaces Michael Madsen as Bob. For a reasonable change of cast for the same role, Josh Brolin was cast as Dwight as this story is a prequel to the first film with Dwight yet to gone through with his facial reconstruction, while unconfirmed news indicated that Clive Owen will be back to play the same role post-facial reconstruction.

On to the casting of the major roles, while Angelina Jolie was originally Rodríguez's first choice for the role of Ava, the eponymous "Dame" to kill for, it has been officially announced that Eva Green had been cast in the role. Earlier rumoured to be portrayed by Johnny Depp, the new character Johnny, a protagonist in one of the four stories, will instead by portrayed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

New additions to the cast the likes of Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Christopher Meloni, and Julia Garner will be played new characters while Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, and Jaime King will be reprising their roles in the sequel.

With filming currently undergoing as the film set to meet its release date in October this year, Rodriguez has tweeted some intriguing behind-the-scenes images from the production as we witnessed some "before-and-after" production images featuring Josh Brolin.
