World War Z: Awesome Unauthorized Posters - Zombie of the Week

Posted by Grey Friday, February 8, 2013

The gritty vision of a world ravaged by a realistic (as realistic as they come) zombie apocalypse presented in World War Z has been enhanced by a collective of talented artists who delivered their own unique take on the live action adaptation of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by German-Swiss film-maker Marc Forster and actor Brad Pitt.

Back in November last year, we had our First Look at World War Z, German-Swiss film-maker Marc Forster and actor Brad Pitt's live action adaptation of German-Swiss film-maker Marc Forster and actor Brad Pitt's live action adaptation of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, author Max Brooks' 2006 acclaimed post-apocalyptic horror novel. While the first trailer of the film was intriguing enough for us to sustain our anticipation for the film, the graphic department was notably lacking in their efforts as we all have till now is big black one-sheet with Brad Pitt's name headlining and the film's uninspired title.

Not anymore now, and Paramount has nothing to do with that.

Perhaps sharing our distaste at the lack of a reasonably enticing image to do the film's promotion justice, The Print Posse, a collective ensemble of eight talented artists have emerged to save the day (and maybe Paramount's graphic department's lazy hide). Assembling the tremendous artistic might of Marko Manev, Tracie Ching, Chris Garofalo, Midnight Marauder, Adam Rabalais, Marie Bergeron, David Moscati, and Matt FergusonThe Print Posse provided their own unique take on the film with a most exhilarating result. Courtesy of Blurrpy, brace yourself for these awesome rendition of easily one of the most anticipated films of the year.

First up, we have the awesome designs by Macedonia-based designer and illustrator Marko Manev, who have earlier impressed us with his minimalist take on the Marvel Universe.

Matt has this to say for the following companion pieces:

"The concept is that they are minimalist art cards that would be a giveaway to people at the showings of the film, etc."

In the words of the artist David Moscati himself:

“In order it is Japanese, German and Russian and they all say their respective terms for ”World War”. Drawing from the book where its focuses on many stories all over the globe to show that the epidemic isn’t hitting in only one area and that all countries are not only infected but have equal parts to play in the stories progression.”

Being the Super Bowl season, Paramount has also released a new TV spot for the film, which unfortunately doesn't add anything new to the plate. Nonetheless, here's the new Super Bowl TV spot (Head over to Apple to view it in HD).

Here’s a synopsis for the film:

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

Co-starring Anthony Mackie, Matthew Fox, Mireille Enos, and James Badge Dale, World War Z is currently scheduled to be released on June 21, 2013.
