Stoker: Final Preview - Undead Monday

Posted by Grey Monday, March 4, 2013

This Undead Monday, we take one final look at acclaimed South Korean film-maker Park Chan-wook's début Hollywood entry, Stoker.

Described as a "horror film, a family drama and a psychological thriller by screenwriter Wentworth Miller, we have been circling over Stoker, incidentally South Korean film-maker Park Chan-wook's first Hollywood entry.

It is no secret that we here at The Daily Zombies are big fan of the acclaimed film-maker's works, particularly his seminal epic, 2003's Oldboy, incidentally soon to be remade by Spike Lee. With Stoker, it appears that Park has found a good fit with his début Hollywood entry. Premièred at Sundance to rave reviews, we are fully confident that Park can have a better head-start in Hollywood than his fellow South Korean compatriot,

We had our First Look at the film back in October last year and have checked out the cool trailer depicting the production of an awesome poster for the film earlier in January. With the film now open in all fine theatres, we round up all the promotional items to have our last preview at the film.

First up, courtesy of Empire, hit the jump to check out the new trailer.

The first trailer.

And the International Trailer.

Featurettes and clips from the film.

With the film's theatrical release, Fox Searchlight has released a series of official set images from the film.

Here are the posters released for the film.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

After India’s (Wasikowska’s) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother (Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

And here's an alternate synopsis for the film:

India Stoker (Mia Wasikowska) was not prepared to lose her father and best friend Richard (Dermot Mulroney) in a tragic auto accident. The solitude of her woodsy family estate, the peace of her tranquil town, and the unspoken somberness of her home life are suddenly upended by not only this mysterious accident, but by the sudden arrival of her Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), whom she never knew existed. When Charlie moves in with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evie (Nicole Kidman), India thinks the void left by her father’s death is finally being filled by his closet bloodline. Soon after his arrival, India comes to suspect that this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives. Yet instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless young woman becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

Starring Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, and Matthew Goode, Stoker is currently scheduled to be released on March 1, 2013.
