The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - First Look

With The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hitting both the traditional theatres and IMAX on November 22, Lionsgate's massive promotion campaign for the second instalment of the Hollywood adaptation of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy caught fire with a slew of new posters and images to share.

With Lionsgate’s 2012 Hollywood adaptation of the first chapter in Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy eventually becoming one of the biggest winners at the box office of the year, there is without a shadow of a doubt for the continuation of the film series, as evident from the fact that it was actually green-lit months ahead of its release. With production of the sequel moving forth at a hasty pace as Francis Lawrence replaced Gary Ross as the director for the second film after Ross announced his departure, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is now right on track for its release on both traditional theatres and IMAX on November 22.

With that in mind, Lionsgate kicks off the promotional campaign of the first poster of the film, containing a logo similar to that of the first film.

Following this, Lionsgate continued with the expectedly massive marketing campaign of the film with two new posters of Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson's Peeta Mellark doing their contractually obligatory rounds of Victory Tour across the Districts of Panem following their triumphs at the 74th Hunger Games. Incidentally a nifty concept and well-executed one as well as we see the two kids looking every bit the part of a social propaganda campaign. Hit the jump to check out the two posters.

Continuing with their unique marketing campaign, CapitolCouture.PN, a promotional site for the film's fashion and culture launched The Capitol Portraits, containing a series of portrait with the characters featured in a stylized graphic rendition. Hit the jump to check out this unconventional series of character posters for the film.

Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket

Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman

Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy

Lenny Kravitz as Cinna

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen

Jeffrey Wright as Beetee

Jena Malone as Johanna Mason

Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark

Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne

Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair

Donald Sutherland as President Snow

And here are some of the official set images from the film.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Directed by Francis Lawrence and featuring a stellar cast of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer, , The Hunger Games: Catching Fire stars is currently scheduled to open in traditional theaters and IMAX on November 22.
