300: Rise of an Empire - First Look

Zack Snyder's 2007 film that made his career gets a prequel. With Legendary Pictures unveiling the first poster and images of 300: Rise of an Empire, we take a First Look at the film directed by Noam Murro with Snyder taking on the screenplay and producer role.

While it may be surprising for some to see Hollywood churning out a follow-up to 300, the somewhat controversial yet well-received blockbuster film in 2007 that cemented Zack Snyder's Hollywood career, given the film's conclusion, it is not exactly a surprise for many industry observers especially after the release of Xerxes, Frank Miller's follow-up to his Eisner Awards-winning comic book series that inspired the film of the same name.

Entitled 300: Rise of an Empire, the upcoming directed by Noam Murro will be loosely based on Xerxes as it covers part of origins of Rodrigo Santoro's antagonistic role in the first film, King Xerxes, Great King of Persia. Moving further from the source material, 300: Rise of an Empire will be focusing on both the Athenian admiral, Themistocles, played by by Australian actor Sullivan Stapleton, as well as Artemisia, a new antagonist role played by Eva Green. Circling around the Battle of Artemisium, the film will also be featuring several other battlegrounds during that period.
