Agent Smith Advocating 'Good' Machines

Agent Smith is back and this time, he's apparently on the side of the Angels selling Machines that are beneficial to mankind.

Having iconic and instantly-recognizable characters promoting your products is a time-tested, tried-and-true tradition of modern day advertising. On the other hand, The Wachowskis' original sci-fi action film, The Matrix, is undoubtedly among one of the most iconic products of pop culture in the early 2000s and we here at The Daily Zombies have been unabashedly fans (a fact evidently so last month) of the entire trilogy (despite the tantamount sentiments of polarizing views of it).  Thus, would using one of the most identifiable characters in the film that is arguably a zeitgeist of a generation for an advert be a good fit? Consider the fact that both are on the very subject of "machines"?

Well, the answer is a big bad bold "NO." Fancy the evil Agent Smith, the antagonistic AI in the entire trilogy, on the side of the Angels selling you "good" machine that will be beneficial to mankind? Just one thought crossed my mind: Bad Product Placement.

Nevertheless, it was entertaining while it lasted and I personally am glad to see Hugo Weaving in character for one his most remarkable performances. Hit the jump to check out the advert for General Electrics' medical appliances and have a kick out of it next time you visit the local hospital.
