With Injustice: Gods Among Us hitting the stores, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios has unleashed the launch trailer as well as the opening cinematic for the much-anticipated title.

"I can say without a doubt that there are an infinite number of universes. Some are just like our own... but for one or two significant events, exactly the same." - Lex Luthor

There has always been debates on how the DC Universe, when compared to their competition, Marvel Comics, often came out short when it comes to excitement given the perceived conventional nature of the world view. On the defensive side of this accusation, we have frequently saw notable and significant work or adaptation of DC Universe-based materials to be based on alternate take of the original (for example, The Dark Knight Return, Red Son, and the DC Universe Online game). And now, adding to the line of alternate take on the DC Universe is the latest fighting game from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios: Injustice: Gods Among Us.

We have earlier took a First Look at the title and were relatively intrigued given the fact that we are all pretty die-hard fans of DC Comics ourselves (which essentially gave away our stand on the earlier rhetoric). Apart from the fact that the title is developed by Ed Boon (the co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise) and NetherRealm Studios, the developer behind Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, the story by writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray has proven to be a main source of interest thus far. In the alternate reality set up in the title, Superman went to the dark side after killing the Joker following the Clown Prince of Crime's destruction of Metropolis and murdering of Lois Lane and her unborn child. Announcing a new world order with his Regime, Superman assembled a gathering of superheroes and supervillains as Batman retaliate with his own Insurgency, complete with a Lex Luthor who has never become a supervillain. The plot further thickens went the Justice League of the original DC Universe got involved in the war between the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight.

For a sneak peek at the story, hit the jump to check out the opening cinematic from the title.

And here's the launch trailer.

For a taste of the action, here's a clip pitting Batman against his nemesis, the Joker.

The first DLC character has been announced and he is... Lobo.

In closing, here's a nifty image featuring the entire roster.
