It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's the smashing new trailer of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Brace yourself as we witnessed Henry Cavill's Superman embarks on an epic adventure that is shaping up to be the Superman film we have been clamoring for.

Back in December when we covered the unveiling of the first theatrical trailer of Man of Steel, Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot of Superman, we were thrilled by what appeared to be a good mix of action and characterization in the much-anticipated film. With the release of the new trailer, our expectation has once again been blown away by the kick-ass epic battle scenes that were non-existent in Bryan Singer's lackluster Superman Returns and the intriguing new take of the mythology of the superhero who started it all.

Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, brace yourself for the new theatrical trailer of Man of Steel.

Ever the keen observer, iO9 has released a shot-by-shot analysis of the epic trailer that have got every self-respecting DC Comics fans excited. We have gathered some of the most interesting images from these screen captures right below for your easy consumption.

Lex Corp! Yes, expect the unexpected, or rather the unannounced.

For the much-talked-about future of the Justice League movie, Warner Bros. president Jeff Robinov has recently opened up in confirming that Christopher Nolan will not be involved and that Man of Steel will be the film to open up the "DC Cinematic Universe" in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
“I think you’ll see that, going forward, anything can live in this world,” he said. “[Nolan’s] Batman was deliberately and smartly positioned as a stand-alone. The world they lived in was very isolated without any knowledge of any other superheroes. What Zack and Chris have done with this film is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world.”

The first TV spot for the film.

In the first clip for the viral marketing campaign, Michael Shannon's General Zod issues a warning to Superman and puny Earthlings.

Here's a look at the updated "Clark and Lois" courtesy of Total Film's exclusive cover for their May issue.

And in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly (with the cover below), Zack Snyder confirmed that there will be no Kryptonite in the film.

Also from Entertainment Weekly, here are some official images from the film.

And here are some other official images released by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Here's the official synopsis of the film:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman," not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni, and Russell Crowe, Man of Steel is currently scheduled to be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX on June 14, 2013.
