Big Hero 6: First Look

The first official collaboration between Marvel and Disney is here. Behold the First Look footage of Big Hero 6, the upcoming CG-animated film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and based on the Marvel comic book series of the same name. 

Since Disney's acquisition of Marvel back in 2009, fans have been speculating on the possibility on whether the talented folks from the respective animation studios of Disney or Pixar will take on the House of Ideas to produce animated films based on the tremendous library of Marvel Comics. And now, developing out the rumor mill for being the source of a new animated film on the internet, Marvel's upstart superhero group in the Land of the Rising Sun, Big Hero 6, has been announced to hit the big screens some time next year.

Chronicling the adventures of a group of rag-tag misfit superheroes based in Japan, the Big Hero 6 is however relatively lightweight when compared to other Marvel properties in terms of recognizable cast. Taking a new, kinetic approach that is characteristic of Walt Disney Animation Studios of late, Big Hero 6 does look promising with the first look footage that was released recently.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Big Hero 6,” an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action and all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the CG-animated “Big Hero 6” hits theaters in 3D on November 7, 2014.
