Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - First Look

Posted by Grey Saturday, May 18, 2013

Nothing can stop the return of Agent Coulson as Clark Gregg reprises his fan-favorite role while leading the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the upcoming television series from ABC. The Daily Zombies takes a First Look at Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the Marvel Cinematic Universe branches out to your friendly neighbourhood TV this September.

(SPOILER ALERT for those who have not watched Marvel Studios' The Avengers

The Son of Coul lives on... and is coming to you in your friendly neighbourhood TV this September now that ABC has made the most no-brainer decision of the year for any syndicated television networks: Officially picking up Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the spin-off television series set in the same continuity as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, easily the hottest film franchise in town with films under its belt repeatedly breaking box office records.

With Samuel L. Jackson being an unlikely candidate to be headlining the television series (given his involvement in a seemingly infinite number of upcoming films), there can only be one man capable of leading the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in this one: Agent Phil Coulson. With an unexpectedly massive following for the stoic agent played by Clark Gregg in the Phase One films of the unstoppable Marvel Cinematic Universe, we have earlier reported on the fanfare and campaigns to bring back the character following his demise at the hands of the God of Evil and Mischief, Loki. From utilization of Life Decoy Models (Marvel Zombies will know what's that) to rumors that the character will return as The Vision with some elements of RoboCop, we have seen numerous theories. And now that Coulson is confirmed to lead the new cast in the upcoming television series from ABC, it would be interesting to see how Joss Whedon is pulling himself out of this corner.

Developed by Joss Whedon himself in collaboration with his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to air every Tuesday on ABC this Fall.

With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the first trailer and clips from the television series.

Here’s the official synopsis for the series:

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series.  “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.
