The Wolverine: New Trailers, Posters & Images

Posted by Grey Thursday, May 23, 2013

With James Mangold's The Wolverine hitting the big screen in July, 20th Century Fox's marketing campaign is hitting a high note with the release of a slew of trailers, posters and images.

The Summer of 2013 rages on with more superheroes as 20th Century Fox join in the fray come July to  extend their prolific franchise featuring Marvel Comics' merry mutants. In Hugh Jackman's sixth outing (we are counting his scene-stealing cameo in X-Men: First Class here) as Logan, the eponymous Wolverine, the wildly popular Marvel character travels to the far east with his immortality at stake, for better or worse. We have earlier saw 20th Century Fox's marketing department picking up their pace with their marketing efforts for what is no doubt one of the tent-pole blockbuster films of the year (no matter what perception you might have for the train-wreck known as X-Men Origins: Wolverine) with the release of the trailers. To further whet your appetite for some mutant mayhem, here's the first trailer that actually provided us with the first sneak preview of the antagonist of the film, the Silver Samurai.

Without further ado, hit the jump to check out the latest trailer.

Missed the bigger and badder Silver Samurai? You shouldn't but here's a screenshot of that image.

And here are two other international trailers for the film with the first one from CinemaCon and the latter appropriately from Japan.

The Japan trailer.

And here are the new posters and banners for the film.

We have earlier covered on the impressive ancient Japanese painting-style poster featuring Logan. Here to round up the series are the posters done in the same style for the friends and foes of The Wolverine.

And here's the original poster featuring Logan front and center.

Here are some official set images from the film. While the main bulk were featured in our earlier coverage, these are the high-resolution versions of the lot.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

The Wolverine is currently scheduled to be released on July 26, 2013.
