V/H/S/2: New Red Band Trailer - Undead Monday

Posted by Grey Monday, May 20, 2013

This Undead Monday, we take another look at V/H/S/2, the sequel to last year's V/H/S/, the original horror anthology film that have gotten some surprisingly positive nods.

Another Undead Monday brings us another look at V/H/S/2, the horror anthology film that we had covered on earlier in January when it was known as S-VHS, a clever play on the second film's effort in improving over its predecessor much like its namesake over the VHS tapes. Speaking of its predecessor, the original V/H/S was a strange beast all its own that takes on some pretty incredible elements of the run-of-the-mill Found Footage horror film genre and pound them into something that is surprisingly intriguing.

With V/H/S/2, an expanded line-up of notable indie film-makers were announced: From Jason Eisener (Hobo with a Shotgun), Gareth Evans (The Raid: Redemption), Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre), Eduardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale (Blair Witch Project) to returning directors Simon Barrett (A Horrible Way to Die) as well as Adam Wingard (You're Next). With the film set to be available on iTunes/On Demand early next month with a limited run in the theaters in July, a new red-band trailer has been released to whet your appetite for the macabre.

Hit the jump to check out the red band trailer.

And here's the first poster for the film.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Inside a darkened house looms a column of TVs littered with VHS tapes, a pagan shrine to forgotten analog gods. The screens crackle and pop endlessly with monochrome vistas of static—white noise permeating the brain and fogging concentration. But you must fight the urge to relax: this is no mere movie night. Those obsolete spools contain more than just magnetic tape. They are imprinted with the very soul of evil.

From the demented minds that brought you last year’s V/H/S comes V/H/S/2, an all-new anthology of dread, madness, and gore. This follow-up ventures even further down the demented path blazed by its predecessor, discovering new and terrifying territory in the genre. This is modern horror at its most inventive, shrewdly subverting our expectations about viral videos in ways that are just as satisfying as they are sadistic. The result is the rarest of all tapes—a second generation with no loss of quality.

V/H/S/2 is currently scheduled to be available on iTunes/On Demand early next month with a limited run in the theaters in July.
