X-Men: Days of Future Past - First Look - SDCC 2013

Posted by The Daily Zombies Wednesday, July 24, 2013

Without a shadow of a doubt one of the most anticipated films of 2014, we have a good First Look at Bryan Singer's incredibly ambitious mutant epic, X-Men: Days of Future Past, thanks to the film's amazing panel at the Comic-Con.

With stocks behind cinematic adaptation of comic book superheroes skyrocketing in a way we can never ever imagine, the golden age of comic book-to-live action Hollywood tentpole film has indeed arrive thanks to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy and to an admittedly larger extent, the sense-shattering success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and their crown jewel, Joss Whedon's The Avengers. Back in August last year, we excitedly covered the announcement by Bryan Singer that the sequel to Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class would be entitled X-Men: Days of Future Past, a cinematic adaptation that will loosely based on arguably one of the most well-known story arcs of the storied history of Marvel's merry mutants.

Based on the wildly popular comic book franchise published by Marvel, the success of Bryan Singer's 2000's X-Men and 2003's X2 have been one of the decisive elements that lead to this booming age of, some say oversaturated market of superhero films. With X-Men: Days of Future Past set to feature almost every single cast members from 20th Century Fox's box-office smashing film franchise, there is no doubt that the film is going to be one of the biggest films of 2014.

At the recently-ended Comic-Con, the entire cast of the much-anticipated films take to the stands at the panel held at Hall H to a thunderous standing ovation. A reaction that reminded one of the night the cast of The Avengers assembled for the first time ever at the same location.  With no further ado, hit the jump to check out a condensed clip of the panel which in our opinion is the best during the entire Comic-Con, followed by a clip of the full panel.

And here's a full clip (minus the movie footage) of the panel.

It certainly is a moment to savor but the real reason why it was the single best panel in Comic-Con has to be attributed to the incredible synergy from the assembled cast with great entertainers the likes of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Peter Dinklage, Michael Fassbender and more engaging the attendees in an earnest and humorous conversation.

With the film set to be released on May 23rd next year, there have been plentiful reveals by Singer, who has taken to his Twitter account to make these delightful reveals with a picture. As for the plot of the film, we understand by now that unlike the original story arc, instead of Kitty Pryde, Logan will be sent to the past, the cinematic universe strongly established by Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, of which a decade has passed and we find ourselves in the swinging 70s. Peter Dinklage plays the role of Bolivar Trask, the infamous creator of the Sentinels, the key antagonists in the classic story.

Following the Comic-Con panel, two posters of the film, with the time-traveling element in focus, have been unveiled. Hit the jump to check out the two awesome posters featuring Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, in their respective roles as Magneto and Professor X.

And here are two of the anti-mutant propaganda style poster brought to you by Trask Industries.

For those who are interested to follow developments of the film, do stay tuned to Bryan Singer's Twitter account. But for those who just want everything Days of Future Past in one place, head over to the film's official site for more.

And here are some of the reveals from the site thus far.

Courtesy of ComicBookMovie, here's our first look at the characters from the doomed future. From left to right, the first image featured the Old Man Logan with notable white streaks in his hair, Wolvie from the swinging 70s, Professor X, Magneto, Daniel Cudmore returning as Colossus, and lastly, Omar Sy as Bishop.

Directed by Bryan Singer and starring an incredible ensemble cast featuring Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Lucas Till and Boo Boo Stewart, X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently scheduled to hit the theaters on May 23, 2014.
