WATCH Truth in Journalism

A fan of Dirty Laundry, the awesome short film featuring Thomas Jane's return as the Punisher in an unexpected surprise screening at last year's Comic-Con? Brace yourself for an all-new short by the same producer on another popular anti-hero in the Marvel Universe.

Easily one of the most unexpected surprise at last year's San Diego Comic-Con, the screening of Dirty Laundry was both indicative of the creativity of indie film-makers as well as the abysmal depth Hollywood can find themselves in with their comic book adaptation before the rise of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Phil Joanou and produced by Adi Shankar with a script by Chad St. John, the short film featured Thomas Jane in a cool reprisal of his role as Frank Castle, The Punisher, in the eponymous 2004 film. In the subtly kick-ass short film, the reveal of The Punisher in the final scene is in itself one of its most pleasant surprises.

Taking a page off Dirty Laundry, producer Adi Shankar is back for another radical take of a popular anti-hero in the Marvel Universe. And this time, he enlisted the help of writer/director Joe Lynch to conjure an all-new, all-different take on the fan favorite character of whom identity will be revealed for now for your maximum enjoyment of the intriguing final scene. Entitled Truth in Journalism, the short film was clearly inspired by the 1992 French cult film, Man Bites Dog, while injecting the earlier mentioned anti-hero into the making of a documentary that gradually erupted into a delightful cacophony of violence. Starring Ryan Kwanten, whom Adi Shankar calls "Daniel Bryan of Hollywood", the short film was recently released.

With no further, hit the jump to check out the 17-minute short film and find out the identity of the anti-hero yourself.

For more on the short film, head over to Collider to check out an exclusive interview with producer Adi Shankar.

Here are some of the official images from the film (the last few are spoilers, really).
