RoboCop: New International Trailer

Posted by The Daily Zombies Thursday, November 21, 2013

Our enthusiasm for the Future of Law Enforcement dwindled a fair bit with this new international trailer of RoboCop, the upcoming reboot of the 1987 sci-fi classic of the same name

With our last look at José Padilha's RoboCop remake, we posed a question on ourselves over the necessity of the remake and if this is similar to the other Paul Verhoeven sci-fi classic remake, Total Recall, by Len Wiseman. While we do not have any answers to that yet, we were pretty intrigued by the latest trailer of the film and fairly hopeful for the acclaimed Brazilian film-maker's take on the 1987 sci-fi epic.

With the release of the latest international trailer, our hope for the film dwindled a few notches thanks to the reveal that Alex Murphy immediately restores his humanity and identity after the transformation, thereby totally eliminating the painful struggle between his humanity and programming. Which is of course one of the reasons why RoboCop is more than just another 80 ultra-violent fest. And with that, the intrigue is all but gone.

Hit the jump to check out the new international trailer to assess for yourself.

And here are some of the newly-unveiled official images.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Brauchel, Jackie Earle Haley, and Samuel L. Jackson, RoboCop is scheduled to open on February 12, 2014.
