The Walking Dead: Season Two - First Look - Zombie of the Week

Posted by The Daily Zombies Friday, November 1, 2013

Brace yourself for the ultimate Halloween treat from the talented folks from Telltale Games: The unveiling of The Walking Dead: Season Two, featuring the return of Clementine, now the protagonist of the sequel to the critically acclaimed title that has been honored as the App of the Year 2013 by us here at The Daily Zombies.

Here at The Daily Zombies, we are obviously big fans of The Walking Dead, AMC's live-action television adaptation of the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard, that we have been religiously following since its inception back in 2003. We were casually cautious when we first heard of the multi-platform release of The Walking Dead: The Game, Telltale Games' episodic point-and-click adventure video game based on the well-received AMC television series given our track records with franchise spin-off, let alone a mere iOS port. We have had our collective unfounded opinions slapped back at our faces big time when we honored the title as the App of the Year 2013, a first for a gaming experience on the iOS here at The Daily Zombies.

We were considerably intrigued by the follow-up, The Walking Dead: 400 Days, an additional episode to the first season with five new characters to culminate into a final sequence to resonate the results of the earlier five episodes.  Back then, we reported on how this additional episode will be using information and decisions made within 400 Days' saved games into the Season Two of the title.

And here we are, the unveiling of the Season Two.

What better way to continue the moving story arc by catching up with Clementine, now alone in the chaotic world run by the dead and the living right smack in the midst of easily one of the most depressing zombie apocalypse we have ever witnessed.

With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the reveal trailer, followed by screenshots and press release details from the title.

The Walking Dead: Season Two Revealed from Telltale Games

Leading publisher of digital entertainment Telltale Games and Robert Kirkman, the Eisner Award-winning creator and writer of The Walking Dead for his Skybound imprint at Image Comics, have officially revealed The Walking Dead: Season Two - A Telltale Games Series, which is now available for pre-order on PC/Mac via the Telltale Games Online Store as well as Steam. The second season will make its highly-anticipated premiere later this year on PC/Mac, home consoles and iOS, with additional platforms to be announced.

The Walking Dead: Season Two - A Telltale Games Series will continue the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned at the outset of the undead apocalypse, now left to her own devices to seek safety and survive in a world gone mad. Now assuming the role of an ordinary child, players will struggle to outwit both the dead and the living in situations that will test their morals and control the flow of the story through their decisions and actions.

"The terrifying nature of Robert Kirkman's world has allowed Telltale to push the boundaries of interactive drama in video games to a place that has had fans anxious to know what will happen next in this series," said Dan Connors, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. "Today we can finally lift the veil, albeit only a little, on how this story will continue, and we'll soon be putting players in the shoes of a lead role that will challenge their expectations of how to survive in a world where no one can be trusted."

Expected to premiere later this year, The Walking Dead: Season Two - A Telltale Games Series will consist of five episodes that will be released for digital download over the course of the season and will conclude in 2014. Players can save 10% off of the purchase price of the PC/Mac versions with a pre-order of the season pass, giving them access to all five episodes for the total cost of $22.49 USD or equivalent when ordering through the Telltale Online Store, or through the Steam digital distribution service.

Apart from the announcement of Season Two, Telltale has also officially announced the Game of the Year Edition of the first season, containing all five episodes and the 400 Days DLC for $29.99 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Here are the box arts, respectively.

Consisting of five episodes, The Walking Dead: Season Two is set to be released in the final quarter of the year.
