Edge of Tomorrow: First Trailer, New Poster, & Images

Posted by The Daily Zombies Thursday, December 12, 2013

The awesome sci-fi trailer week continues as Warner Bros. Pictures releases the first trailer of Edge of Tomorrow, a sci-fi action film formerly known as All You Need Is Kill

In our earlier coverage on Doug Liman's Edge of Tomorrow, we have had a good look at the gritty futuristic warzone setting of the film formerly known as All You Need Is Kill with the release of the posters and official images from the film.

Based on the Japanese science fiction and fantasy light 2004 novel, "All You Need Is Kill", by author Hiroshi Sakurazaka, we understand that the film is best described as "Starship Trooper meets Groundhog Day". An intriguing fusion of high concept or a hideous hybrid of ideas? Thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures. you can judge for yourself with the first trailer of the film.

Hit the jump to check out the action-packed trailer featuring a very necessary femme fatale in Emily Blunt.

The latest poster released to coincide with the launch of the first trailer.

Kicking off the viral marketing campaign in style, here are some of the official images (albeit in somewhat grainy quality) courtesy of the Twitter feed @EmbeddedUDF.

Here's the official synopsis for the film:

The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Edge of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX on June 6, 2014.
