Iron Man 3: The Iron Legion Unveiled & New Poster

Posted by Grey

Have a closer look at the almighty Iron Legion that we last saw in the latest trailer as we highlight the recent ups and downs of the unstoppable marketing campaign of Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3.

With its international release later this month and the States-wide release early May, the marketing department behind Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 is working overtime to ensure that the folks who enjoyed Joss Whedon's The Avengers will be back in the theatres to take on the seventh instalment of Marvel Cinematic Universe and incidentally the first chapter of their Phase Two plan. With that, we chronicled the recent ups and down of the campaign, both social networking and conventional.

First up, we look on the bright side at the not-so-viral social networking campaign found at the official Iron Man 3 Facebook page

By entering this cool Hall of Armors in the Facebook trivia campaign to “Unlock the Armors,”, fans can engage in an effort to unlock these new armors that were last shown in the latest trailer of the film by answering related questions. Apart from unlocking and thus unveiling The Iron Legion, fans can also enter themselves into a contest to attend the world première event of Iron Man 3 in Los Angeles on April 24. We certainly feel happy for the eventual winner but everyone's a winner as we feast on these awesome armors that have been unlocked thus far.

First, we take a look at Mark XXXIX Sub Orbital Suit "Gemini," perfect for intergalactic trip.

The Artillery Level RT Suit, Mark XVII "Heartbreaker."

The Disaster Rescue Suit, Mark XXXV "Red Snapper."

Quite possibly the one with the most attention given how fans have collectively (and affectionately) called it the Hulkbuster after the armor of the same name in the comic book. Well, its official name is Heavy Lifting Suit, Mark XXXVIII "Igor."

Hyper Velocity Suit, Mark XL "Shotgun."

And last but not least, the Enhanced Energy Suit, Mark XXXIII "Silver Centurion."

And now moving on to the not-so-cool side of the marketing campaign, the recently-released poster for the film was truly an abomination, mashing the earlier character poster set into one stupid-looking junk.

In closing on a related note, fans of the film in China will reportedly be treated to some bonus feature exclusive for the Chinese version of the film. While details are sketchy, all we know is that Chinese actress Fan Bingbing will only be appearing in this special version that will more likely than not be appearing on the bonus scenes in the eventual Blu-ray and DVD releases.

Here's the official press release:

Marvel Studios and DMG announced that a Chinese version of IRON MAN 3 will be released in China on a date to be announced in the near future. DMG, a Chinese media and entertainment company, collaborated with Marvel Studios on the Chinese elements in the film, and is marketing and distributing the film in China. While Marvel and DMG have decided not to apply for co-production status in China, the film includes significant Chinese elements. Renowned Chinese actor Wang Xueqi will appear in both the studio’s Chinese version of the film and in its international and domestic US version. Both versions of the film include Iron Man 3 footage filmed in Beijing in December. The Chinese version of the film will also feature a special appearance of China’s top actress, Fan Bingbing, and will offer specially prepared bonus footage made exclusively for the Chinese audience. Marvel Studios’ experience working on this film with Fan Bingbing and Wang Xueqi and in shooting in China has been very positive and has created a springboard for future collaboration with China’s talented stars and its growing film and television industry. The IRON MAN cast and filmmakers look forward to bringing IRON MAN back to China.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of Tales of Suspense (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with The Invincible Iron Man (#1) in May of 1968. Iron Man 3 is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing and Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee and Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film releases May 3, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 features an all-star cast with Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, and Guy Pearce. Iron Man 3 is currently scheduled to open internationally in IMAX 3D theatres on April 25th with a domestic release on May 3rd, 2013.

Pacific Rim: New Posters & Images

Posted by Grey

A series of awesome new posters featuring the Jaegers of five countries have been released by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures as we await the coming of Guillermo Del Toro‘s Pacific Rim, one of the year's most-anticipated film paying homage to the Kaiju/Mecha culture this Summer.

Right alongside Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel, Guillermo Del Toro‘s Pacific Rim is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of the year here at The Daily Zombies. With the film set to open in 3D and IMAX 3D in July, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released a series of cool new posters for the ambitious film chronicling the war between giant Mechas and giant Monsters on the streets of Hong Kong, America, and Japan. Featuring five of the Jaegars (massiveMecha robots controlled by humans) of the world, this is the closest shot we have had of the film's impressively-designed mechas.

Without further ado, hit the jump to check out Japan’s “Coyote Tango”, America’s “Gypsy Danger”, Russia’s “Cherno Alpha”, Australia’s “Striker Eureka”, and China’s “Crimson Typhoon” along with their respective blueprints that we have earlier featured in the film's viral marketing campaign.

Here's the official synopsis from the film:

From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ epic sci-fi action adventure “Pacific Rim.”

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Oscar® nominee Guillermo del Toro (“Pan’s Labyrinth”) is directing “Pacific Rim” from a script by Travis Beacham (“Clash of the Titans”). Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Mary Parent are producing, with Callum Greene serving as executive producer.

The film stars Charlie Hunnam (TV’s “Sons of Anarchy”), Idris Elba (“Thor”), Rinko Kikuchi (“The Brothers Bloom”), Charlie Day (“Horrible Bosses”), and Ron Perlman (the “Hellboy” films). The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke.

Del Toro’s behind-the-scenes team includes Academy Award®-winning director of photography Guillermo Navarro, production designer Andrew Neskoromny, editor Peter Amundson, and costume designer Kate Hawley.

Slated for release in Summer 2013, “Pacific Rim” is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi , Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman, Pacific Rim is set to open in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 12, 2013.

World War Z: New Trailer & Posters - Zombie of the Week

Posted by Grey

With World War Z set to open in June, Paramount has finally release the first official poster as well as a new trailer for the live action adaptation of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by German-Swiss film-maker Marc Forster and actor Brad Pitt.

While Jonathan Levine's cinematic adaptation of Isaac Marion's Warm Bodies gave us a refreshing take on the done-to-death trope of the undead kind by letting us in to the most habitable and chirpiest zombie-infested world ever with the well-received zom-rom-com (Zombie Romantic Comedy), we can safely depend on World War Z to bring us down to earth to a pseudo-realistic and gritty vision of a world ravaged by a zombie apocalypse.

And if this ever-increasing sense of alarming urgency is what German-Swiss film-maker Marc Forster and actor Brad Pitt would like to convey in their live action adaptation of author Max Brooks' 2006 acclaimed post-apocalyptic horror novel, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, then they have succeed in this latest trailer that both strengthen the scope of the film of which the zombie apocalypse is perceived as a serious crisis on a serious scale as well as humanizing Brad Pitt's role as the protagonist of the film.

With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the new trailer.

Head over to Collider for an interview with director Marc Forster as he covers intriguing details of the film including how in the world of the film, zombie films exist and that the characters talk about "zombies."

Back in February, being big fans of aesthetically-arresting posters to drum up the marketing campaign of a film here at The Daily Zombies, we bemoaned the lack of efforts on the part of the graphic department for Paramount and applauded The Print Posse, a collective ensemble of eight talented artists who teamed together to roll out some of the most eye-catching film posters of the year. With the film's release date mere months away, two official new posters (despite coming from one common image) have been released. In keeping with the film's horrific visual of hordes of zombies, the poster featured heaps of undead as well. Hit the jump to check out these posters.

Here’s a synopsis for the film:

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

Co-starring Anthony Mackie, Matthew Fox, Mireille Enos, and James Badge Dale, World War Z is currently scheduled to be released on June 21, 2013.

Sesame Street X Batman

The Streets of Gotham just got a little... Sesame.

The Dark Knight and his infamous Rogues' Gallery are the target of this inexplicable mash-up with the iconic puppets of Sesame Street and it is interesting to note how well both materials gel. From Elmo's Robin, The Count's Ra's al Ghul, to Bert' Mr. Freeze, artist Matthew Benkner unleashed his creativity to give us an inspired mash-up.

The Wolverine: First Trailers, New Posters & Images

Snikt! Prepare yourself, Bub, as Hugh Jackman's Wolverine comes right at you via not one but two début trailers of 20th Century Fox's The Wolverine

While we have had our fair share of previews at The Wolverine, James Mangold's upcoming cinematic take on one of Marvel's most popular characters, Wolverine, earlier on, we must add that we are still puzzled on the lack of marketing efforts on 20th Century Fox's part for easily one of the tent-pole blockbuster films of the year, given the impending release of the film this July.

Finally awaking to reality, 20th Century Fox has finally released not one but two début trailers of the film meant to serve both domestic audience as well as the international ones. While the trailers are notably different both in tones and contents, they both manage to convey the plot and drama of the film well as we follow Hugh Jackman's beaten and (survivor) guilt-ridden Wolverine on a path to part ways with the curse of his immortality thanks to a mysterious benefactor whom life was saved by Logan back in World War II.

Without further ado, hit the jump to check out the trailer.

First up, the International Trailer.

And here's the Domestic Trailer.

The poster department, though, has been dismal with these lacking showings though.

Official set images for the film.

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, here are more set images for the film.

And in an interesting break, Mangold took to his Twitter account to release some refreshing black-and-white photos of his cast on the final day of principal photography.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

The Wolverine is currently scheduled to be released on July 26, 2013.
