200 G.I. Joes by 12 For 12 Designs

The Real American Heroes are appropriately featured in this awesome piece assembling the very best of G.I. Joe and Cobra in good ol' stars and stripes.

With Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury now forever etched in pop culture sensation thanks to the box-office smashing success of Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Comics following suit to clumsily thrust a black Nick Fury Jr. in charge in Marvel NOW, it is interesting to note that the successful relaunch of G.I. Joe back in the 1980s was largely rooted in the very same idea.

It is pretty well-known by now that Larry Hama was actually developing a new comic book entitled Fury Force and featuring the son of Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. assembling a team of elite commandos against the forces of Fury's nemesis, HYDRA. Before he was approached by Jim Shooter, who acted on a chance meeting in a men's room

While the rest of the story is pretty much, as they called it, history, we are pleasantly reminded to one of the most awesome toy-line back in the 80s, thanks to this star-spangled presentation of G. I. Joe by the folks at 12 For 12 Designs.

Hit the jump to check out the piece.
