X-Men: Days of Future Past - 25 Empire Magazine Covers

Posted by The Daily Zombies Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Courtesy of the 25th anniversary of British's Empire Magazine, have a closer look at the latest rendition of your favorite merry mutants of Marvel in the twenty-five covers presenting the characters of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Easily one of our favorite film magazines right beside Sight & Sound, the Empire Magazine has come a long way since its first issue back in July 1989. While we here at The Daily Zombies need no further reason to pick up any issues of the magazine every month, there is a very good reason for everyone to pick up the latest issue of the magazine. In fact, there are twenty-five good reasons for you to run down to the nearest newsstand to pick up twenty-five copies of them if you have that maniacal completist spirit in you or just a die-hard Marvel Zombie.

Celebrating the fan-favorite magazine's 25th anniversary, the Empire Magazine went on to unveiled its 25 covers featuring each X-Men: Days of Future Past character (give or take some replication due to the film's time-travelling element) within 24 hours, a feat that, by design or accident, was also a rift off the film's time-travelling subject. Starting from the first Sentinel in 1973 to the Sentinel of the deadly future, hit the jump to check out some really awesome (for example, Fan Bingbing's Blink) and awful images (Evan Jonigkeit's young Toad and, by the hoary hosts of Hoggoth, Evan Peters' Quicksilver) featuring your favorite merry mutants from Marvel.

Future Sentinel

Apparently, production designed John Myhre deemed it fit to explain further on the otherwise unknown Sentinel of the deadly future in an interview with Empire:

“They’re biomechanical weapons. We had to come up with what would be the ultimate version that could actually, in principle, stop the X-Men. We started with this idea that they were almost made up of magnetic plates slapped over one another, imagining that the plates could contract or grow, so the Sentinel can be skinny to get through a small space or the plates can open up to become a bigger shape. So they have become virtually unstoppable.”

You don't really need a pair of keen eyes to notice the connected background behind the characters and how all 25 posters are interconnected as a massive image. Thanks to Big Comic Page, click on the image below to view the enormous image in its gorgeous high definition.

Also courtesy of Empire Magazine's big blow-out coverage on the film, here are some new official images from X-Men: Days of Future Past.

And continuing the negative news in relation to Evan Peters' Quicksilver, are we looking at a pint-sized Scarlet Witch here?

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past — to save our future.

Directed by Bryan Singer and starring an incredible ensemble cast featuring Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Lucas Till and Boo Boo Stewart, X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently scheduled to hit the theaters on May 23, 2014.
