Godzilla: New Trailers & Posters

Posted by The Daily Zombies

"Can you kill it?"
"I believe something can."

"A monster?"

"No, a God." ..... zilla.

It's Kaiju versus Kaiju in the latest international trailer for Legendary Pictures and British film-maker Gareth Edwards' upcoming iterations of Godzilla.

With the release of what is shaping up to be a triumphant return to cinematic glory for Godzilla, the King of Kaiju, mere weeks away, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have intensified their marketing campaign to give the audience a sense of what to expect in the film while not giving away too much that will spoil the fun especially for fans of Godzilla.

With the latest international trailer set for release in Asia, we finally get to witness the first mano-a-mano battle between Godzilla and most probably Rodan in an awesome set-up.  Thus far, the folks at Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures have been effective in pushing forth their marketing while retaining enough plot developments and/or twist. Which is why the revealing plot here worked particularly well here.

With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the awesome clip.

And here's the earlier released international trailer for Japan.

In this featurette, learn how you can contribute to the film by sharing your take on the classic Godzilla roar.

Staying in line with the gradually intensifying marketing campaign, here are some of the recently-released posters for the film.

The Knicks: First Look

Posted by The Daily Zombies

"Surgery wasn't always science."

With a tagline as above and the return of acclaimed film-maker Steven Soderbergh at helm, prepare yourself for a medical drama unlike any other in Cinemax's The Knicks.

Entering the fray into what many have perceived as the "Golden Age" of television with the likes of HBO's True Detective and Netflix's House of Cards, acclaimed film-maker Steven Soderbergh will be invading the small screens with The Knicks, an upcoming drama series from Cinemax.

Breaking their usual MO of rolling out more action-oriented TV series, The Knicks is a 10-episode period drama miniseries featuring Clive Owen as Doctor John W. Thackery, a surgeon at Knickerbocker Hospital in 1900 where medical procedures were highly precarious. For those who thought that this is going to be those run-of-the-mill medical drama set in an early era, think again after checking out the deliciously sinister teaser trailers the TV series right after the jump. Indeed, we might just be at the verge of yet another television gem not unlike Nic Pizzolatto and Cary Fukunaga's True Detective.

Set to premiere some time this Summer on Cinemax, hit the jump to check out the first two trailers as well as four of the atmospheric teasers that reminded one of American Horror Story (in a good way). By the way, the music in the trailer is "Home" by Colin Stetson in case you are wondering.

And here are the teaser clips.

While no dates have been provided, The Knicks is currently scheduled to premiere some time this Summer on Cinemax.

Penny Dreadful: WATCH the Premiere Now - Undead Monday

Posted by The Daily Zombies

This Undead Monday, catch the first episode of Penny Dreadful, the "psychosexual" gothic horror TV series created for Showtime by John Logan and executive produced by Logan and Sam Mendes, in its entirety courtesy of Showtime.

This Undead Monday appears to be particularly auspicious indeed. Since late last year, we have been covering Penny Dreadful with the release of a series of its teasers and trailers (hereherehere, and here) by Showtime. Today, the wait is suddenly over in a big way. While the pilot episode is set to premiere only on 11th May on Showtime, the network has decided to launch a full multi-platform blast of the first episode by releasing it online nationwide for all to sample the “psychosexual" horror series.

Ambitiously aiming to weave together the origins of horror icons the likes of Count Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, and Dorian Gray in Victorian London, Penny Dreadful is created and written by John Logan with Logan's fellow collaborator from Skyfall, director Sam Mendes himself serving as the Executive Producer of the series. Boasting a stellar cast spearheaded by Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, and Billie Piper, the series seek to revitalize classic horror icons in gaslight of Victorian London in the eight-episode first series.

Available across multiple platforms from the free On Demand channels to YouTube, the series premiere can also be accessed for free via Showtime Anytime on iPhone, iPad, Android phones, Kindle Fire, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV, Hulu, and what have you on the app that is available on most Smart TVs.

Without further ado, hit the jump to check out the first episode on YouTube (only available for US viewers).

And here are the posters released thus far.

Here's the official synopsis for the series:

In PENNY DREADFUL, some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters – including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula, all brilliantly reimagined in a whole new light – have become embroiled in Victorian London. The series stars Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Down), Eva Green (Casino Royale) Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights, Licence to Kill), Reeve Carney (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), Rory Kinnear (Skyfall), Harry Treadaway (The Lone Ranger), Billie Piper (Doctor Who, Secret Diary of a Call Girl) and Danny Sapani (The Bill). PENNY DREADFUL is a drama series created, written and executive produced by John Logan (Hugo, The Aviator, Gladiator) and executive produced by Logan’s Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall) and Pippa Harris (Revolutionary Road, Call The Midwife), both of Neal Street. Of the eight episodes, the first two will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, who helmed The Orphanage and the acclaimed film, The Impossible starring Naomi Watts in her Oscar-nominated performance.
