Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: First Look

Posted by The Daily Zombies Wednesday, April 9, 2014

Cowabunga! The "Heroes in a Half-Shell" are back in an upcoming live-action feature film for the new generation. The Daily Zombies takes a First Look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle with the recently-released posters and trailer for the film.

Despite earlier claims and rumors, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is set to return to the big screen not as aliens and with the "Teenage Mutant" namesake intact. To many, this particular fact is already a good cause for solace. After all, the "Heroes in a Half-Shell" have captured the imagination of an entire generation back in the late 80s with the animated series and to spit in the collective face of this particular generation of now-adult consumers would be a commercial suicide even if your name is Michael Bay.

Produced by Michael Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman, the South African film-maker that previously brought us Battle: Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans, Paramount Pictures' upcoming live-action take on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will feature CG motion-captured performances of actors as the iconic quartet of anthropmorphic crime-fighters in the street of New York. Rounding up the cast would be Megan Fox as April O'Neal, the journalist in a yellow-jumpsuit, Will Arnett (who last amazed us as the goddamn Batman in The Lego Movie) as Vernon Fenwick, April's cameraman, and last but definitely not the least, the ever-dependable William Fichtner stretching his villanous muscles as Shredder.

With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the first teaser trailer.

The recently-released teaser poster set.

And here are some of the screenshots from the trailer, as well as set pictures for the film.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.

Starring Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, Whoopi Goldberg, and featuring the voice of Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub,  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is currently scheduled to open on 8th August, 2014.
