X-Men: Days of Future Past - New Trailers & Posters

Posted by The Daily Zombies Wednesday, April 16, 2014

X marks the spot next month as we brace ourselves with The Daily Zombies' most anticipated film of the year, X-Men: Days of Future Past. With the release of Bryan Singer ensemble superhero epic in our immediate horizon, 20th Century Fox has released the awesome third and possibly final trailer for the film.

Easily the most ambitious superhero film since Marvel Studios' box office-smashing, film industry-changing success with The Avengers, X-Men: Days of Future Past has been on the very top of the list for the Most Anticipated Film of 2014 here at The Daily Zombies. With superhero mania running all over Hollywood as of late, it is only right that the gathering of the cinematic interpretations of Marvel's merry mutants at 20th Century Fox requires this level of fan anticipation especially given the fact that the seventh film in the X-Men film franchise (including the Wolverine films) is the second-most expensive film ever produced by the studio (a budget of an estimated $225 million, slightly dwarfed by number one on the list, James Cameron's Avatar at $237 million, according to Hollywood Report).

With the next installment for the franchise announced well ahead of the release of Days of Future Past, we can definitely appreciate the level of importance the franchise is by now in the eyes of the Powers-That-Be at 20th Century Fox. Since it has been confirmed that X-Men: Apocalypse will be both featuring the eponymous archnemesis/saviour of all mutantkind (it's complicated, because comics) and set in the glorious 80s, we are certain that a bold direction has been set on course at least until 27th May, 2016.

Back to Days of Future Past, 20th Century Fox is definitely pulling no punches in its marketing department when it comes to the trailer.  An all-new trailer that really serves as a summary of the film complete with all kinds of spoilers (big and small) has been released and we can assure you that despite our dismay over the spoilery contents, is nothing short of freaking awesome. With further ado, hit the jump to check out the exciting trailer.

And here's the second trailer which is every bit as powerful though less spoilery.

And here are a collection of the recently-released posters for the film, which is a bit of an unfortunate hit-and-miss in our undead opinions.

For example, the one right below is perfectly well-composed with great color theme but a good number of the characters are all over the places with Patrick Stewart's Professor X being the main flaw for apparently farting a massive inferno.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past — to save our future.

Directed by Bryan Singer and starring an incredible ensemble cast featuring Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Lucas Till and Boo Boo Stewart, X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently scheduled to hit the theaters on May 23, 2014.
