Look Out! Your Friendly Neighbourhood (Amazing) Spider-Man is finally back on the big screen! The Daily Zombies takes a final look at The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ahead of the big weekend release of the much-anticipated superhero film.
And here we go... In less than two years after the release of director Marc Webb's cinematic reboot of Marvel Comics' iconic superhero in The Amazing Spider-Man, here we are at the eve of the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
As tentpole movies go, superheroes have been one of the consistent presences in the cinemas these days with Captain America: The Winter Soldier currently sitting comfortably at the top of box office charts. So as far as theories on superhero fatigue go, it is a safe bet to expect more to come given the tremendous box office results of these comic book adaptations. Since its official announcement on the commencement of the principal photography on the sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been right there at our Undead spotlight since the unveiling of the new (and classic) costume. And like most Spider-Man adaptations, this is more of a love/hate relationship. Like we said before, we liked 2002's Spider-Man, loved 2004's Spider-Man 2, and absolutely detested 2007's Spider-Man 3. 2012's THe Amazing Spider-Man was in fact a romantic comedy, much like what director Webb has made previously in his excellent rom-com, (500) Days of Summer, with action-packed sequences and superheroes as a cover. While that might sound like a winning formula for both boys and girls, the result was a tad bit underwhelming though we do dig the romantic underlying theme which is really kind of cool. As for the underwhelming part, it is mainly due to the "secret origins" treatment of what is truly the easiest and most effective superhero origins in Peter Parker. By having Electro, Rhyno, and Green Goblin, this is reminiscent of Sam Raimi's third Spider-Man outing with the "Maximum Carnage" of characters here.
Starting from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony has decided to go the "Avengers Assemble" way with the franchise by announcing both the Venom and The Sinister Six movies, respectively directed by Alex Kurtzman (of the Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci tag-team writers fame) and Drew Goddard. All these are pointing to a fact that the franchise is here to stay and with Goddard's take on the villains in Sinister Six, I will go as far as possible to say that this is one cinematic journey that you can count the undead at The Daily Zombies on.

As a spoiler to no one, Sony is set to expand the Spidey Cinematic Universe with Sinister Six with Drew Goddard at helm. To drum up the hype for the all-villains film, Sony and Shazam have collaborated to entice the fans with the following instructions meant for the end credit song, "It's On Again", by Alicia Keys:
After seeing THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 – opening on May 2nd - be sure to Shazam the end credit sequence to unlock a look into the sinister future. Download @Shazam on iTunes or GooglePlay. #SpiderMan
Thanks to the folks over at Coming Soon, we can all skip the overtly-convoluted steps with the teaser images unveiled. Hit the jump for these images and our prediction on who they respectively are for.

Like a distraught reject from the Blue Man Group, Jamie Foxx's Electro was captured in all its creepy glory in the "Electro Collector’s Edition", a collection containing the 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD of the film with a bust of Foxx's Electro to boot. Currently available for pre-order, Superherohype has unveiled the first images of the monstrosity.

First up, we take a look at the peculiar case of Doctor Jekyll/Mr. Hyde with Dane DeHaan's Harry Osborn/Green Goblin.
As noted by Metal Sucks, apart from the bad hair, bad teeth, and amazingly insane look, this iteration of one of the most famous arch-nemeses of Spidey really does looked like Beavis of Beavis and Butthead fame.
We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently scheduled to be released on May 2, 2014.
