Birdman: First Trailer

Posted by The Daily Zombies Saturday, June 14, 2014

It's a Bird? It's Batman? It's Alejandro González Iñárritu's upcoming comedy, Birdman, and we have the first trailer of the film featuring former Batman Michael Keaton, and Birdman, a fictional though iconic superhero in the film.

One year ago, we took a First Look at Birdman, an upcoming comedy directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and we were quite impressed by the star-studded cast from Edward Norton, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, Andrea Riseborough, to of course, Michael Keaton, who at one time is best known for his portrayal as the Goddamn Batman, in Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns. Apart from that, we were rather intrigued by the titular Birdman's surprisingly well-made costume.

And here we are now one year later with the release of the first trailer by Fox Searchlight.

If you have been somewhat doubtful of how Alejandro González Iñárritu, the Mexican film-maker that brought us acclaimed films like 21 Grams and Babel, can pull off a somewhat self-referential meta gig with Michael Keaton as the engine behind, here are all the reason you shouldn't be.

A very metaphysical comedy with contemporary Hollywood heavyweight the likes of Emma Stone and Edward Norton and Michael Keaton as the very lead of the cast to parody his iconic status as the Goddamn Batman? We are so sold with the below embedded trailer.

The first posters (basically the same image) for the film.

Courtesy of Daily Mail, here are some of the leaked set images featuring a down-and-out Keaton and behind him, the titular Birdman with a surprisingly well-made costume.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

BIRDMAN or The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance is a black comedy that tells the story of an actor (Keaton) – famous for portraying an iconic superhero – as he struggles to mount a Broadway play.  In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself.

Birdman is set to be released on October 17th, 2014.
