Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - First Look at Henry Cavill's Superman

It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's the first official image of Henry Cavill as Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!

Longtime followers of The Daily Zombies might just find that introductory header up there familiar as it is exactly what we said when we first unveiled the first official picture of Henry Cavill in full Superman costume in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel back in 2011. As a testament of how time flies, here we are now post-Man of Steel and on our way to a "Dawn of Justice" in the Man of Steel sequel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

As an recap of the casting news thus far, here we go to just reiterate how insanely huge the 2016 film really is:

Henry Cavill returns as Clark Kent / Superman following the mind-numbing massacre of Metropolis while Ben Affleck boldly joins the franchise as Bruce Wayne, the Goddamn Batman which we have had a glimpse at earlier on. Miss Israel 2004, Gal Gadot, will be taking on the coveted role of Diana Prince, better known to all as Wonder Woman (fancy that, Miss Israel who has served as a soldier for two years in the Israel Defense Forces portraying an American Icon). On the villain side, we have Jesse Eisenberg taking on the very interesting role of Lex Luthor, the archenemy of the Man of Steel. Over at the Dark Knight's corner, we have Jeremy Irons taking on the role of the most well-known butler on earth, Alfred Pennyworth. In a potentially cameo role, Ray Fisher has been cast as Victor Stone / Cyborg.

In addition, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane will be part of the returning cast as Lois Lane, Perry White, and Martha Kent, respectively. Among other unconfirmed casting, Jason Momoa was reportedly cast as Aquaman, while Tao Okamoto, the famous Japanese model last seen in The Wolverine, is rumored to take on the role of Luthor's assistant Mercy Graves. Veteran actress Holly Hunter has also been rumored to be cast as a U.S. Senator.

With such an insane cast, there is no doubt that the film is shaping up to be the most anticipated film in 2016 despite Star Wars VII, which is saying a lot on the film's insane anticipation. Earlier on this week, we have seen the lackluster unveiling of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent courtesy of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund’s Twitter

And now, thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures, your first glimpse at the Man of Steel in a somewhat Gotham-esque environment.

Details from the press notes:

Filming is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the highly anticipated action adventure from director Zack Snyder, starring Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as BruceWayne/Batman.
