Escape Dead Island: First Look - Zombie of the Week

Posted by The Daily Zombies Friday, July 4, 2014

Between Dead Island and Dead Island 2, there lies Escape Dead Island, yet another spin-off title published by German studio Deep Silver's prolific survival horror franchise. With the release of the first trailer for the title, we take a first look at the title described somewhat differently as a Survival-Mystery.

Earlier last month at the E3, we covered the announcement for Dead Island 2, the second installment in the franchise published by Germany studio Deep Silver and developed by Yager now instead of Techland.

Never one for subtlety, Deep Silver has unveiled yet another new title in the franchise following the announcement of Dead Island 2, and the free-to-play ZOMBA (Zombie Online Multiplayer Battle Arena), Dead Island: Epidemic. Entitled simply as Escape Dead Island, the title developed by Swedish developer Fatshark chronicled the story arc in between Dead Island and Dead Island 2 as Cliff Calo, the new protagonist, took on the incredible job of finding out the truth behind the epidemic of Banoi.

Employing some cleverly-utilized cel-shaded art style, the new title is self-styled as Survival-Mystery with some pretty nifty psychedelic moments as witnessed in the first trailer released. Check out the cool clip embedded right below.

Details from the official press release:

Escape Dead Island: Paradise Meets Insanity

Deep Silver today reveals Escape Dead Island, a third-person single-player survival mystery spin-off that unravels the origins of the zombie outbreak and tells the story between multi-million-seller Dead Island and the recently announced successor Dead Island 2. Developed by Fatshark Sweden, Escape Dead Island is scheduled for release in autumn 2014 for the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system as well as Windows PC for a recommended retail price of £39.99 for the console versions and £34.99 for the PC version.

Escape Dead Island is a survival mystery that follows the story of Cliff Calo, who sets sail to document the unexplained events rumoured to have happened on Banoi. Arriving on the island of Narapela, part of the Banoi archipelago, he finds that not everything is as it seems. Haunted by Déjà vu, Cliff will have to make sense of it all throughout the entire game – again and again. This story-driven adventure lets players delve into the Dead Island universe and unravel the origins of the zombie outbreak. Escape is only the beginning…

Delivering the key features of a Dead Island game – visceral melee combat set in a beautiful paradise setting – Escape adds a completely new tone to the zombie universe. The visually unique styles accompanies the player on his struggle against insanity as he experiences the secrets of the Dead Island universe, fights off zombies with a vast and unique array of weapons and opens the path to the events that will happen in Dead Island 2.

Dead Island 2 is coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC this Fall.
