Interstellar: New Trailer

Posted by The Daily Zombies Thursday, July 31, 2014

Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here.

Courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures, we have a closer look at the cosmic aspect of Christopher Nolan's Interstellar in the third trailer of the much-anticipated sci-fi drama.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

- Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, 1914 - 1953

For a distinguished film-maker who have made a industry-bending cinematic trilogy of a pop culture icon who just celebrated his 75th birthday, it is nothing short of amazing that British film-maker Christopher Nolan has never attended a single Comic-Con. Until this year. Both Nolan and Matthew McConaughey, lead actor of Nolan's upcoming sci-fi drama, Interstellar (and incidentally, our favorite actor of the year here in The Daily Zombies for his astounding performances in HBO's True Detective), made an unexpected appearance at Paramount Pictures's panel at Hall H to standing ovation.

Apart from revealing a little more plot for the much-anticipated film featuring a stellar ensemble cast with the likes of Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, John Lithgow, Casey Affleck, Wes Bentley, David Oyelowo, Ellen Burstyn and Michael Caine, a new trailer was screened to the delights of the attendees. For those who are not at the panel, fret not as the ever-friendly Warner Bros. Pictures has released the trailer, which was earlier only available online via the film's official website if you happened to know the access code (7201969, the date Apollo 11 landed on the Moon).

While continuing to capture the moving story of family man Cooper (played by McConaughey) who are torn at leaving his family for a desperate quest to save the world, the new trailer opens up the stunning spectacle of space with some breathtaking composition. Like what Michael Caine is citing in the voiceover, “Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night” without checking the trailer out right below.

Here's the synopsis of the film, courtesy of

Interstellar is a movie by Director, Christopher Nolan (Inception, Dark Night Trilogy).

Mainly based on the scientific theories and script treatment of renowned theoretical physicist, Kip Thorne. Interstellar is set to be released in November 7, 2014.

Nolan and Emma Thomas are producing with Lynda Obst, and Jordan Goldberg is exec producing. Obst commissioned the original treatment and Steven Spielberg came aboard in 2006, when Paramount owned DreamWorks and after the filmmaker became intrigued by Caltech physicist and relativity expert Kip S. Thorne and his scientific theory that wormholes exist and can be used for time travel. Spielberg set Jonah Nolan to write the script, which made it easy for Christopher Nolan to come aboard after Spielberg left the project. The ambition is that Interstellar will depict a heroic voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding.

The film is co-finaced by Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. Entertainment. In coming to a deal with its rival studio, Warners, which maintains an overall deal with Nolan's Syncopy label, relinquished to Paramount its rights to co-finance the next Friday the 13th horror film as well as a potential future South Park movie, which are two properties that were originally owned by Paramount before being brought by Warners. Also included in the negotiations was an agreement to let Paramount co-finance a to-be-determined A-list Warners property.

Interstellar is set to open on 7th November 2013.
