The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1: First Look - SDCC 2014

Posted by The Daily Zombies Tuesday, July 29, 2014

With Lionsgate releasing the first teaser trailer of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 right after its premiere at the Comic-Con, we take this opportunity to have a comprehensive First Look at the much-anticipated film's remarkable marketing campaign.

With an awesome marketing campaign, we are pretty certain the odds are in Lionsgate's favor for
Francis Lawrence's next chapter in the Hollywood adaptation of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy. Even in the face of the lack of any panels at Comic-Con, the presence of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is definitely felt with the release of a well-edited one-minute trailer that subtly transmit the sense of a final battle that will be setting up the concluding films. With that said, we are still rather stumped on how the last novel of the series, Mockingjay, can be extended into two feature film length but then again we can always look toward Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy for inspiration on that.

Without further ado, here's the pulse-pounding yet nuanced first teaser trailer of what is easily one of the most-anticipated films (and the one that have the best chance to beat Transformers: Age of Extinction at the box office) of young audiences everywhere.

Earlier last month, a teaser clip depicting Donald Sutherland's President Snow's subtly threatening Panem address with Josh Hutcherson's Peeta by his side. Check out the clip right below.

Following the first address, President Snow went ahead with a second address to the people of Panem, now with Jena Malone’s Johanna Mason also by his side before the feed got interrupted by an awesome transmission by District 13 with the message, "The Mockingjay Lives".

Behind-the-scene clip focusing on Julianne Moore's take on Alma Coin, a key player of the franchise moving forward.

In keeping with the film series' remarkably unique marketing of propaganda poster campaign with a tinge of fashion, a series of posters entitled "District Heroes" was released, depicting the lifestyle and particular career field of the various districts of Panem, complete with a message direct from The Capitol:

In honor of our brave brothers and sisters of Panem, we’re pleased to share the DISTRICT HEROES COLLECTION.

Today, The Capitol, under the authority of the Capitol Ministry of Information, released seven District Heroes across Yahoo and Tumblr.

Please take a minute to reflect and learn more about these esteemed district citizens at the links below.

We also strongly encourage you and your readers to register for updates from Capitol TV. Remember, we are #OnePanem.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

The worldwide phenomenon of The Hunger Games continues to set the world on fire with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.

Directed by Francis Lawrence and featuring a stellar cast of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Woody Harrelson, Julianne Moore, Liam Hemsworth, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer, , The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is currently scheduled to open in traditional theaters and IMAX on November 21st with Part 2 scheduled a year later on November 20th.
