[REC]4 Apocalypse - First Look - Zombie of the Week

Posted by The Daily Zombies Friday, August 1, 2014

The fourth and final chapter to [REC], the original Spanish Survival Horror franchise is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September and we have our First Look at [REC]4 Apocalypse with its first trailer.

Back in 2011 when we had our First Look at [REC]3 Génesis, the third chapter to the unexpected survival horror franchise, we were understandably elated with what appeared to be a worthy spin on the theme set up in the first and second film with a somewhat comedic take. Unfortunately, the final product left us uncertain if the franchise is running on its last legs, stripped of all the cool elements it had.

And here we are in 2014, with Filmax set to premiere [REC]4 Apocalypse at the Toronto International Film Festival next month. Taking us right back to particularly creepy note where the second film ended, Manuela Velasco will return to reprise her role of Ángela Vidal, the television reporter from the first two films, with Jaume Balagueró, the director of the first two films, also returning to the director chair. With the latest installment being announced as the final chapter of the franchise, we are certainly intrigued to see if the franchise ends with a bang or a whimper. Based on the first trailer, it does appear that the latter is not an acceptable option.

With no further ado, check out the trailer right below, complete with English sub.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Angela Vidal wakes up in a high-security quarantine facility, sole survivor and witness to the horrific events inside the building. But does she remember what happened to her? Is she carrying a virus? Distrust spreads through the isolated facility while new, even more deadly forms of evil spread even faster.

[REC]4 Apocalypse is currently scheduled to premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September with a release in Spain on October 31st, 2014.
