Futures End 3D Lenticular Covers

Posted by The Daily Zombies Thursday, September 11, 2014

To commemorate the third anniversary of The New 52, all ongoing titles from DC Comics released in September boldly go five years into the future to tie into The New 52: Futures End. We take a look at some of the more noteworthy 3D lenticular covers of these titles.

First up, we here at The Daily Zombies have to first confessed that we chose Batman: Eternal over Futures End as the weekly series to follow (we don't get free comics here and the pursuit of a weekly title sure ain't cheap). Nevertheless, the recent Futures End event running across all ongoing titles from DC Comics released in September has captivated us with the usual unpredictability that comes with those "What If" types of story arcs as demonstrated before with DC's very own Armageddon 2001 event back in 1991 (that certainly goes a long way to tell you how old we are). In this particular event, all titles involved are flash forward to five years later to give us a good look of what actually took place to establish the status quo.

Having survived the gimmicky covers trend back in the 90s, we are not exactly enthusiastic over the announcement of the 3D lenticular covers that come with these titles participating in the event. However, with the concept of portraying the present and future (five years later) via the flicking effect of the covers, these covers did pull off the stunt with pleasant results in most cases. With about half of these participating titles released by now, we take a look at some of these covers that are among the most enticing either by the sheer strength of looking great or depicting exciting story development. Check them out right below, complete with the respective solicitation details of the title.
