American Sniper: First Look

Posted by The Daily Zombies Saturday, October 4, 2014

The story of the most lethal sniper in U.S. history comes to life on the big screen courtesy of director Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper in the eponymous role of U.S Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.  Here's our First Look at American Sniper with the release of the first trailer of the biographical action film.

The story of the late U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle has been a particularly intriguing subject for big screen adaptation with big names such as David O. Russell and Stephen Spielberg involved in the earlier stages of production following the film's announcement by Warner Bros Pictures after they acquired the rights to the autobiography of the same name written by Chris Kyle. But one thing has been consistent: Bradley Cooper was set to produce and star in the film as Kyle from the get go.

A personal project for Cooper, the actor has went on 40 pounds in his transformation into the legendary soldier who is better known as the most lethal sniper in the U.S. military history. With Clint Eastwood stepping in the director role for the film, there is no doubt that the legendary film-maker can inject a mixed sense of honor and irony into the film. Based on what we witnessed from the film's first trailer, the incredible weight of Kyle's role is encapsulated effortlessly to entice the audience. Check out the trailer right below.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

From director Clint Eastwood comes “American Sniper,” starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history.  But there was much more to him than his skill as a sharpshooter.  U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms.  His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname “Legend.”  However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents.  He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world.  Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, personifying the SEAL creed to “leave no man behind.”  But upon returning to his wife, Taya Renae Kyle (Sienna Miller), and kids, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind.

Starring Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Jake McDorman, Luke Grimes, Navid Negahban, and Keir O’Donnell, American Sniper is set to be released on 25th December.
