Avengers: Age of Ultron - First Trailer & Poster

Posted by The Daily Zombies Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Lo and Behold, True Believers. Brace yourself for our first close look at one of the two most anticipated films of 2015: The first trailer of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Age of Ultron has arrived.

In a year that will see the release of the previously thought unthinkable Episode VII of Star Wars, easily one of the biggest franchise in pop culture, it is intriguing that the upcoming film directed by J.J. Abrams is not an automatic choice as the most anticipated film of 2015. All thanks to the unstoppable success of Marvel Studios, which has in more ways than one reshaped Hollywood with tremendous impact felt throughout print, television, and of course, cinema.

Attendees of this year's San Diego Comic-Con was fortunate enough to witness a genuine spectacle with the pulse-astounding first look clip of Avengers: Age of Ultron. For those who bemoaned their fates for not being in San Diego on the fateful day of Marvel's panel at Hall H, bemoan no further. Because Marvel Studios has released the first trailer featuring an edited version of the SDCC clip while omitting some of the cool elements. Nevertheless, it will always be insanely cool to see the live-action version of Earth Mightiest Heroes, namely Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), along with new-comers Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver, and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch) taking on the villainous robot hellbent on the destruction of mankind, Ultron (James Spader).

Suffice to say, the first trailer generates one hell of an excitement for the sequel of the box-office stomping first film while promising some substantial doom and gloom. With no further ado, check out what could just be the most anticipated trailer of the year right below.

As always, here are some of the coolest scene captured on screenshots.

And the first teaser poster released to coincide with the release of the first trailer.

Here's the official synopsis for the film:

Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk.  Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision.

Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Patricia Whitcher, Stan Lee and Jon Favreau serve as executive producers. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1, 2015.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently scheduled for release on May 1, 2015 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.
