Tomorrowland: First Look

Posted by The Daily Zombies Thursday, October 9, 2014

Finally, Disney has officially unveiled their heavy hitter of the studio, Tomorrowland, at the New York Comic-Con. The Daily Zombies takes a First Look at the second live-action directorial feature of Brad Bird

There is no doubt that 2015 is going to be a huge year in cinema with the releases of insanely anticipated films the likes of the culmination of Marvel Studios' Phase Two, Avengers: Age of Ultron and the sequel that needs no further introduction, Star Wars Episode VII. Amazingly, both films are from Disney, a point that somehow made some speculators overlooked the existence of yet another major tentpole film from Walt Disney Studio. And we are of course talking about Tomorrowland, the second live-action directorial feature of Brad Bird, the incredibly talented film-maker who brought us The Incredibles, and Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol. At the recent New York Comic-Con (NYCC), Walt Disney Studio finally decided unveiled the film that has previously been given a highly classified treatment.

First revealed in an image tweeted by Bird, the film was for a time only known as 1952 thanks to the cardboard box in the image labelled "1952". In the box, we saw purportedly uncovered archived items like documents, photographs, vinyl record, and books surrounding sci-fi related subjects with Walt Disney himself featured.

Based on the futuristic themed land at the five Disney Land theme parks around the world, it is very likely that the film is getting the Pirates of the Carribean treatment to rejuvenate Tomorrowland with the level of talents involved. Apart from Bird,  the film is co-written by both Bird and Damon Lindelof with a cast lead by George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Britt Robertson, and Judy Greer.

At the NYCC, Walt Disney Studio went ahead with a panel for the film. And with the unexpected arrival of George Clooney, who took on the role of Frank Walker, the protagonist of the film, a teaser trailer was unveiled. Check out the amazing trailer right below.

An extended clip was screened at the panel and the initial response has generated positive vibe thus far.  We will wait till that extended clip hit the internet for now.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as “Tomorrowland.”

Starring George Clooney, Britt Robertson, Hugh Laurie, Tim McGraw, and Kathryn Hahn, Tomorrowland is set to be released on 22nd May 2015.
