READ Absolute Zero, the Interstellar Prequel Comic

Posted by The Daily Zombies

In Absolute Zero, an Interstellar prequel comic written by none other than Christopher Nolan himself, learn more about the film that have fast became our Movie of the Year 2014.

First and foremost: SPOILER ALERT!!!

Yes, and we are talking about spoiler for Interstellar, the film that have grew on us here at The Daily Zombies. While many skeptics of Christopher Nolan have often criticised its expository tendency to fulfil the modern (mostly dumb-ass) audiences, Interstellar has played out pretty much as straightforward as possible. For those who desperately need to know Cobb's final visions in Inception is real, you certainly are pathetic. But if you are looking out for something out of the fifth dimensions and more for Interstellar, tough luck, as Nolan teamed up with artist Sean Gordon Murphy for a prequel comic on the recent issue of Wired magazine, with more than a nice touch of one of the surprise characters for the film.

Here's the official synopsis of the film:

With our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history; traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars.

Interstellar is currently scheduled to have a limited release in North America on 5th November and a wide release on 7th November 2014. For the limited release in North America, it will be released in 70 mm and 35 mm film formats in approximately 240 theaters still project the format, including at least 41 70 mm IMAX theaters.

John Boyega in Stormtrooper gear!

Daisy Ridley riding an all-new vehicle along Tatooine?

Oscar Isaac: X-Wing Fighter?

And last but certainly far from the least, is that Adam Driver in the rumored antagonist role of Sith with a very dangerous-looking lightsaber with the awesome-looking crossguard?

Awesome.

For those intrigued by the trailer and would like know more from the experts, iO9 has provided a nifty shot-by-shot dissection of the trailer so do head over to check the article out.

All we can say is as alike as the voiceover narration for the trailer might have sounded like the impeccable Benedict Cumberbatch, it actually was from Andy Serkis.

Released along with the trailer, Disney has unveiled four new official images from the trailer.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, opens in theaters December 18, 2015. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, and features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. First Time is Always Awkward by Stjepan Šejić

Posted by The Daily Zombies

Croatian artist Stjepan Šejić (AKA nebezial at deviantART) continues to poke fun at the Man of Steel in this recent piece following "Let It Go, Bruce"

Earlier on, we checked out a wisecrack pun on Superman thanks to Croatian artist Stjepan Šejić (AKA nebezial at deviantART) with his one-page piece, "Let It Go, Bruce". Apparently, DC Comics' resident Man of Steel has been the butt of numerous jokes at the deviantART page of Šejić from an earlier Green Lantern pun to the recent "Frozen" insult.

Here, Šejić once again dishes it out on Superman with a potentially NSFW piece entailing the very "first time" between Clark Kent and his lady, Lois Lane. Check out the piece right below and click on it to view it in all its glory.

WATCH BATMAN vs DARTH VADER - Super Power Beat Down

Posted by The Daily Zombies

Mirror Mirror on the Wall, who's the more formidable force of Darkness of them all? Screw mirror, now that we have Machinima’s “Super Power Beat Down” to give us an unreasonably well-made short film pitting Batman against Darth Vader.

Just yesterday, we covered on the first installment of the Ace Chemicals Infiltration trailer series featuring the one and only Dark Knight in action both in and out of his driver seat in the upcoming (and incidentally our most anticipated game of 2015), Batman: Arkham Knight. Come this Friday, we will have our First Look at our most anticipated film of 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. All in all, an impeccable timing for Machinima’s “Super Power Beat Down” to tale on the two pop culture icons with one similar trait, despite their drastically different background: Darkness.

The Dark Knight, Batman, takes on the ultimate challenge as he faces the Dark Side of the Force, Darth Vader. If you are the type of people who need some storyline background before heading straight into the action (not talking about porn here), Batman enters the Death Star with the aid of Oracle in a quest to rescue Superman, who has been taken hostage here. Ever the well-prepared tactician, Batman managed to break through the well-guarded fortress only to face the Sith Lord in an all-out battle.

If you are unfamiliar with the "Super Power Beat Down" series, they are conjured by the talented folks from Bat in the Sun, who places popular characters in a fight to the death following the vote results from viewers on the outcome. We have last checked out the slugfest of vigilantes when Marvel's Punisher took on DC's Red Hood. In the latest fight, the consistently solid production values hit a new high, resulting in a fairly authentic and unreasonably awesome fight between Batman and Darth Vader. Well, it's Thanksgiving.

Without further ado, check out the clip right below.

Batman: Arkham Knight - Ace Chemicals Infiltration Trailer: Part 1

Posted by The Daily Zombies

Be the Goddamn Batman, both in and out of the driver seat of the awesome Batmobile in this awe-inspiring trailer displaying the insane actions of Rocksteady Studios' conclusion of their critically acclaimed series, Batman: Arkham Knight.

It certainly has been a while since we covered the final chapter of Rocksteady Studios' genre-defining trilogy of Batman: Arkham video game series, Arkham Knight. Just so that we can get a better idea of how the entire vehicular combat and the good' ol solo mode, Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released the first of a trilogy of trailers entitled "Ace Chemicals Infiltration".

Giving us more than a glimpse at the astonishing Batmobile Battle Mode (which we have checked out some time back), the clip show off some of the awe-inspiring action sequence featuring the Dark Knight both in and out of the Batmobile while ensuring the results isn't some vehicular homicide we come to familiarize with Grand Theft Auto. With no further ado, check out the first part of the trilogy of trailers right below.

And here's the synopsis of the title presented in the press release:

In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever.

Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady’s uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City.

Be the Batman.

Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled to be released worldwide on June 2nd, 2015, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.

Time and again, Mondo has proven their leadership position for the very niche industry of graphic prints of pop culture. With 2014 being the 75th birthday of Batman, we have already witnessed a shower of graphic homage from the talented folks from Poster Posse. Being the industry giant and incidentally the contributor when the Ultimate Collector's Edition of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy (incidentally on 50% off ahead of Black Friday), Mondo's contribution to the one and only Dark Knight is only expected.

Attack On Titan: First Posters

Posted by The Daily Zombies

In feverish anticipation of the upcoming live-action adaptation of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人)? Here are the first character posters of the film scheduled to premiere next Summer.

As much as superhero comic book adaptations have gradually taken over Hollywood's tentpole films, its Japanese counterparts are subtly conducting the same business in their domestic box offices with this year's one-two punch in the awe-inspiring adaptation of the most popular storyline of Nobuhiro Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin in Part Two (Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno) and Part Three (Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends), as well as the successful cinematic trilogy of Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys in 2008 and 2009.  Come Summer 2015, one particularly ambitious project will be here to further prove the mantle: Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人).

We have earlier had a First Look at the much anticipated film with the somewhat bizarre Subaru advert where the all-wheel drive capabilities of Subaru Forster are displayed while escaping three freaking horrifying Titans hungry for human flesh. As oddly fascinating the advert looked, it gave us our first look at how a live-action take of the eponymous Titans would be like in the hands of director Shinji Higuchi. With a script written by live-action adaptation expert Yūsuke Watanabe (whom resume includes the live-action adaptation of Gantz and 20th Century Boys), the film has generated enough hype and thanks to Toho, we can have a closer look at the film with the release of the character posters.

Check them out right below.

The live adaptation of Attack On Titan is currently scheduled to hit the screens in Japan in Summer 2015.

Let It Go, Bruce by Stjepan Šejić

Posted by The Daily Zombies

A kingdom of isolation and it looks like I'm the... King. Superman relates to Batman on the rationale of his Fortress of Solitude and ever the pop culture enthusiast, the Dark Knight drop one hell of a punchline in this awesome one-page art by Stjepan Šejić (AKA nebezial at deviantART).

It has been some time since we last featured the works of Croatian artist Stjepan Šejić (AKA nebezial at deviantART) following our coverage of his cover for DC Comics' He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #18

In a recent humorous piece, Šejić took on DC Comics' World's Finest with an exhilarating twist that very much confirms the fact that similar to most of the population of Earth, Batman has checked out Frozen. Check out the piece right below and click on it to view it in all its glory.
