Inside Out: First Look

Posted by The Daily Zombies Thursday, December 11, 2014

As far as emotions are involved, we are more than certain that Pixar's next animated epic is on the way with Pete Docter back at helm on Inside Out, an animated film promising to take us to one particularly intriguing place: The world inside the human mind. With Pixar releasing the debut trailer of the film, we take a First Look at Inside Out.

Much like 2012, we have repeatedly mentioned that 2015 will go down in the history books as one of the biggest year in cinema. Thus far, we have seen the trailers of two of the most anticipated films of 2015: Avengers: Age of Ultron, and of course, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And now we have our First Look at what is definitely shaping up to be, hands down, our most anticipated animated film of the year, Inside Out.

By now, we are almost passed 2014, a year without a Pixar animation, an annual tradition that have not been broken for a very long time. While we definitely appreciate the fact that Pixar decided to focus on their products instead of sticking to their traditions, we most certainly missed the presence of the animation giant though their sister product at Walt Disney Animation Studio, Big Hero 6, did more than a great job. Next year, for the first time ever, we will witness the release of not one but two Pixar animation features with Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur.

With the high concept of Inside Out and add to the fact that Pete Docter, who have previously brought us Monsters, Inc. and Up, we have no doubt that we are fully invested in the animated film featuring the voices of Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, and Phylis Smith. As Joy, Disgust, Anger, Fear, and Sadness, respectively, as portrayed in a young girl's emotions. And that lead us back to the high concept part. Inside Out will be exploring the emotion spectrum of not just a young girl but the entire family as well (though I'm pretty damn sure the young girl is the central focus).

Following the releases of a series of teaser trailers of each emotions, Pixar has released a full-length trailer that clearly illustrate the clever humor one would expect of the acclaimed animation studio as we look into the mind of not just the 11-year-old girl, Riley Anderson (Kaitlyn Dias), but the entire family, Daddy and Mommy, as well with Kyle MacLachlan and Diane Lane taking on the roles of the parents.

You will have to check out the astounding trailer to follow up on how awesome it is in giving us a very sneak peek at the very emotional film. Case in point, Pete Docter has displayed to us how good he is with emotions thanks to the nerve-wrecking early scene in Up (like what my niece would say, the scene always brings a tear to the eye). Which is why we are in for a ride for what many have called a return to the peak for Pixar.

Personally, I have to define a personal peak for Pixar. Pixar films have always moved me, from Monsters, Inc. to Finding Nemo, and Toy Story is no doubt a rare case where each instalments in the trilogy improved leaps and bounds when you don't expect it to due to the incredible standards it have set. So now, without further ado, check out the official full-length trailer of Inside Out, directed by Pete Docter and co-director Ronnie del Carmen.

And here are the teaser trailers.

And here's the official synopsis of the animated film.

From the tepuis of South America to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In 2015, he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all – inside the mind of an 11-year-old named Riley.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

In the roles of the young girl's emotions; Amy Poehler as Joy, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Lewis Black as Anger, Bill Hader as Fear, and Phyllis Smith as Sadness. Inside Out is currently scheduled for release on 19th June 2015.
