Minions: First Look

Posted by The Daily Zombies Sunday, December 21, 2014

Explore the origins of Minions, the mega-popular characters from Universal Pictures' Despicable Me animated film franchise, in the prequel entitled simply as Minions. With the yellow creatures going all Christmas Carol-crazy in a new promo video, we have our First Look at the upcoming animated film featuring the voice of Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, and more.

It has been announced more than a while back that Universal Pictures can't wait to cash in the particularly animated cash cow we have took notice, loathed, and fell in love with: Minions, the unexpectedly influential and infinitely adorable yellow creatures from their animated film franchise, Despicable Me.

In Minions, the spin-off cum prequel to the series, we will finally see for the first time the Minions without their contemporary master, Gru, as they travel literally from time to time to serve the most despicable one of its time. Indeed, the yellow creatures are well ahead of its time but then again, every evil overlord need their particular underlings.

Check out the first trailer right below.

The first clip as introduced by Pharrell William himself.

This being the Christmas season, the Minions are here to help rein in the atmosphere in this clip.

And finally, a new trailer that gives us a new glimpse at the animated film.

Here's the official synopsis for the film:

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Minions begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters—from T. rex to Napoleon—the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.
But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he—alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob—ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.

The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award® winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind…from annihilation.

Featuring a soundtrack of hit music from the ’60s that still permeates our culture today, Minions is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda. Brian Lynch has written the screenplay for the 3D-CG comedy adventure, and Chris Renaud serves as executive producer of the film.

A spin-off/prequel to the Despicable Me animated films, Minions is directed by
Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, with the voice of Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, and Michael Keaton. The animated film is set to to be released on 10th July, 2015.
