12 Monkeys: Final Preview

Posted by The Daily Zombies Thursday, January 15, 2015

Premiering this Friday on Syfy, we will get to check out a brand new reiteration of Terry Gilliam's 1995 sci-fi cult film, 12 Monkeys. And here we are with our Final Preview of the TV series with a bold new innovative take on time-travelling.

As we have briefly mentioned in our Final Preview for The Spierig Brothers' Predestination, time-traveling is truly a particular trope of science fiction that have withstand the test of time. Alien invasions and space operas come and go but we have never stopped short of seeing new time-traveling materials popping up in pop culture. Look no further than this month alone for example. We get to see not one but two new innovative take on the tried-and-true, done-to-death sub-genre of sci-fi both on the big and small screen. On the big screen the last weekend of January, we will get Project Almanac, a genre-bending project with Found-Footage mixed in with time-travelling. And this very Friday, we will get an all-new, all-different take on
Terry Gilliam's 1995 cult sci-fi film.

Featuring more than few significant twist (gender bender of a notable character, to the expected addition of characters given that this is an ongoing series) from the film, 12 Monkeys, the Syfy TV series will have a largely different storyline with a few tweaks here and there to ensure that the mission objective of the time-travelling protagonist is sound enough.
