Ant-Man: First Trailer, Poster & Images

Have your first close, microscopic look at Marvel's tiniest superhero as Marvel unleashes the first trailer of Peyton Reed and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man.

Lo and behold, we finally get to have a good look at the concluding chapter of the remarkable Phase Two of Marvel Cinematic Universe, which also happens to be the most tumultuous film in the studios' storied history thanks to the release of the first-ever trailer for the film. Yes, we are talking about Peyton Reed and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man.

Why do we call it Peyton Reed and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man? Well, Peyton Reed has certainly taken over the director chair from Edgar Wright, while Paul Rudd, apart from playing the eponymous character (Scott Lang), has been credited as the co-screenplay writer along with his longtime collaborator, Adam McKay. While Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish's much-celebrated original take gets a "story by" credit. That's one hell of a development in itself by the way.

For now, brace yourself for the first trailer of Ant-Man.

As unbelievable as that might sound, I find the trailer to be somewhat underwhelming. It has too much of a sombre tone despite the incredible potential amount of consolidated charisma of charming personalities the likes of Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Evangeline Lilly. It is simply too serious for its own good especially considering how it has been categorised as a heist movie. We fully understand that Marvel could just be holding off the humor in order to get the attention it needed but this just feel like a misstep. Hopefully, the second trailer can remind us of the fun factor of the film.

Can't get enough from the trailer? Here are some sweet screenshots for your slow digestion.

The gratuitous shirtless hero shot that has somehow became a MCU tradition.

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, which also happened to sport one hell of an intriguing Ant-Man-centric page at their site, here are some of the recently-unveiled new images, complete with a good look at Evangeline Lilly's full "Wasp" look of her Hope Van Dyne character.

Update - 11th January 2015: New images and concept art revealing the design of Yellowjacket, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly yet again.

And here's the official synopsis of the film.

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man is currently scheduled for release on 17th July 2015.
