iZombie: First Trailer & New Posters- Zombie of the Week

Posted by The Daily Zombies Friday, January 16, 2015

Set to premiere 17th March on The CW, our undead sights are set on the TV adaptation of Chris Roberson and Michael Allred's excellent Vertigo horror series, iZOMBIE, with the release of the first trailer of the show by The CW.

"Bring on the were-terrier!" That was our exclamation back when we took our First Look at The CW's live-action take on Chris Roberson and Michael Allred's excellent Vertigo horror series, iZOMBIE. With the official release date of March 17th being announced, cold hard reality has unfortunately set in.

Thanks to Collider, the following facts on the upcoming TV series have been ascertained:
  • First and foremost, no were-terrier. As explained by Executive Producer Rob Thomas: "In the iZombie comic book, there’s a whole monster universe.  There are were-terriers and ghosts.  We wanted to stay strictly zombie, so we only have zombies in the show.  And we really needed a story engine.  We wanted to do a case-of-the-week show.  In the comic book, the main character is a gravedigger and that’s how she gets her brains.  By making her an assistant medical examiner and putting her in the morgue, it gave us our case of the week that we wanted".
  • The name of the protagonist will be Olivia “Liv” Moore instead of Gwendolyn "Gwen" Dylan in the original comic.
  • Liv will inherit not just the memories of the brains she devoured, but also the talents and skills of the owner of the brain.
  • There will be a "zombie gentleman" as Liv's love interest.

With that last note, our undead expectation is at an all-time low for this one despite the positive buzz over the series from the recent TCA (Television Critics Association) Winter press tour.

Here to hammer the final nail in the coffin is the release of the absolutely cheesy trailer of the show, embedded right below.

And here are the official posters and images of the series.

Here's the official synopsis of iZombie:

Rose McIver (“Masters of Sex,” “Once Upon a Time”) stars as Olivia “Liv” Moore, a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out… until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. As one of the newly undead, Liv has devised a way to resist her baser urges to devour fresh human brains – she’s taken a job in the Seattle coroner’s office.  In this appropriately dead-end job, she can secretly snack on the brains of the many Jane and John Doe corpses that make a final stop in the morgue.  Liv remains resigned to an eternity without hope or purpose, until she realizes that with every brain she consumes, she retains a portion of that person’s memories, and she begins to experience visions from the point of view of the murder victims. It’s not the same as being alive again, but at least she can find purpose in her undead existence by helping to solve the murders of those who are indeed fully dead.

iZombie is set to premiere on The CW on 17th March.
