But you get the idea, and we get a First Look at Guillermo del Toro's much-anticipated horror film with the release of its debut trailer this Undead Monday.
Here at The Daily Zombies, the career of acclaimed Mexican film-maker Guillermo del Toro has been well-chronicled. Ever the prolific creator particularly with the fantasy/horror genre, del Toro is perhaps most recognised for his diverse works in both the supernatural/superhero hero films with Hellboy, his cinematic adaptation of Mike Mignola's renowned superhero, as well as his gothic horror drama films in 2001's The Devil's Backbone and 2006's Pan's Labyrinth. Those who are familiar with these films will also be quick to identify their essential differences apart from their varying genre. Indeed, those more entertaining films of del Toro tend to be in English while his more art-house inclined films are in his native Spanish. And this precisely where del Toro's upcoming horror film gets interesting.
Crimson Peak is in English, with a stellar Hollywood cast unprecedented in any del Toro's film with the likes of Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, and Charlie Hunnam. Intended as a throwback to classic horror, Crimson Peak is described as a gothic horror romance with a horror house at the center of it all. How apt it is then that Universal and Legendary Pictures unleashed the first wave of marketing for the film set to be released in October on Valentine's Day.
With Wasikowska naturally generating a vibe of the classical Victorian thanks to her numerous acclaimed runs of classical films set in the era (for example, the brilliant Jane Eyre), del Toro benefitted with the casting with a very involved female protagonist taking the audience on a bloody creepy journey into the terrible eponymous locale. One thing is certain: This is the most anticipated horror film for us here at The Daily Zombies.

Legendary Pictures’ CRIMSON PEAK, a co-production with Universal Pictures, is a haunting gothic horror story directed by the master of dark fairy tales, Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy series, Pacific Rim), written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins and starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam. In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, del Toro and Callum Greene produce, and Jillian Share executive produces.
