Daredevil: First Trailer

Posted by The Daily Zombies Wednesday, February 4, 2015

With Marvel's Daredevil hitting Netflix in (Ultra High Definition 4K) style come April 10th, we finally get to have an intriguing glimpse at The Man With No Fear on the small screen in the first full trailer of the much-anticipated 13-episode TV miniseries.

Back in October, we have had our First Look at Daredevil, the first step of the next mega project of Marvel Studios: Marvel Television, in collaboration with ABC Studios (for the uninformed, that's the television wing of Disney, the parent company of Marvel) producing four 13-episode miniseries leading to a big one that will be the culmination of the entire project. First up, Daredevil, followed by Jessica Jones (that's the protagonist of the critically acclaimed comic book series, Alias, for the uninformed), Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. And of course, the proverbial big one, The Defenders, where the superheroes assemble as a unit. Yes, indeed, that's taking more than a page or two from their cinematic counterpart. But why fix something that ain't broke? Unless if there are some inherent vices with the product.

True enough, Marvel Television hasn't exactly been excelling as prosperous as their cinematic counterpart with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. still struggling despite their improving efforts in the second season. With that said, we are more than hopeful for this unprecedented comic-to-TV adaptation project with the incredible source materials on hand.

In Daredevil, Charlie Cox will be taking the lead of Matt Murdock, AKA The Man Without Fear, AKA Daredevil himself. Vincent D’Onofrio will be taking on the classic role of Marvel villain, Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Rounding up the cast are Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Scott Glenn as Stick, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna (that's Mrs. Fisk for the uninformed), Vondie Curtis Hall as Ben Urich (investigative journalist for, no, not The Daily Bugle, but The New York Bulletin for copyrights issues), Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsley (that's the supervillain , The Owl, for the uninformed) and Toby Leonard Moore (Wesley, the second-in-command for The Kingpin's outfit). And of course, Rosario Dawson taking on the role of what seems to be an amalgam of Night Nurse and Claire Temple.

Thus far, we have only seen Cox in the black get-up portrayed in Daredevil's formative years depicted in Frank Miller's Daredevil: Man Without Fear. In the first full trailer of the series, it does seem to imply that the black outfit will be the primary look of the hero. We will see how this develop later from here.

Without further ado, check out the trailer right below.

Does this means that similar to the comic book series, the costume will be undergoing radical changes and before we move to the classic red devil outfit, we will get to have a glimpse at the incredibly dorky brown-and-yellow get-up? We shall see but one thing's pretty much certain: This ain't no 1970s Hell's Kitchen.

In a bit of marketing gimmick, Marvel has released a motion poster to coincide with the release of the first poster. Here's the Youtube video depicting the "motion".

And here are the posters.

Here’s the official synopsis for the series:

Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the Super Hero “Daredevil” in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, with executive producers Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus), Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods), the series also stars Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson.

Starring Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Vincent D’Onofrio, Ayelet Zurer, Vondie Curtis Hall, Bob Gunton and Toby Leonard Moore, all 13 episodes of Daredevil will be released in Ultra High Definition 4K on Netflix on April 10th.
